Hey guys i was wondering if anyone had any experience with the JDM turbo kit on ebay? Its only like $800 and i was wondering if it was crap or missing something that good kits normally come with. :talon:

:toobad: There are so many threads floating around now about ebay turbo kits. You get what yoo pay for.
Btw, there is no such thing as "JDM" DSM.

Dude JDM is the brand name of turbo. Nice try at making me look retarded though. And ok I'll look into a better one.

I actually bought a T3 turbo kit from Ebay from SS autochrome. It was for my 2G. It came with manifold, turbo, external wastegate, wastegate dump pipe, & BOV. I don't recommend getting any kit like this. due to tha fact it will cost you a lot more money, because you will have to buy so much sepratley and do so much for the intsall, like fabricate a new downpipe, buy the turbine flange to weld the down pipe to, buy the oil fitting, O2 bunge for the sensor. oh and the wastegate flange was welder in the wrong position. It hit the power steering. so the kit sold for 600$ buy the time i had fixed all the little problems and bought all the other items to fit. it was close to 1,000$. and I still did not get the performance from it that i wanted. SO my advice check out www.shearerfabrications.com they have a really nice manifold, it is pricy, but will give the performance. or go to the parts category on this site and check out vendores like www.extremepsi.com , forced performance, any of those and you will see many kits available. IF YOU ARE GOING TO SPEND THE MONEY, SPEND IT ONE TIME ON PARTS THAT WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN. GOOD LUCK

Oh and by the way JDM is not a brand name either. be careful went purchasing performance items on EBAY!!!! you can get some ggod things on there, but when it comes to performance parts I wouldn't dare buy anything again after that turbo kit.

I do not know anyone personally who has bought a turbo kit from e-bay, but if you'd searched first, you would have found that according to postings of personal experiences of these threads that it is definetally a risk. Some people get VERY lucky and seem to go for atleast 5,000mi which still isen't a lot (in fact, that's terrble if that's when it blows), and most don't even make it that far. The general rule of thumb with ebay items is if it moves, don't buy it on ebay. I wouldn't even buy a static part if it could be detrimental to other parts if it failed (for example, a boost controller). There's been a lot of good reviews with intercoolers and BOV's. Don't get me wrong though because some people sell quality name brand parts on e-bay too.

Thanks guys im glad i asked. Im trying to upgrade my non turbo to a turbo. I knnow theres probably 1,000,000 posts on this topic but do you know of a good kit that would get me like 8psi. Thats all i need. Everyone talks about these Hahn and Star kits but i cant fins them for sale anywhere. On this site you click find vendor and it says "sorry none found"

True I agree with JayRolla, even if you put the money into the turbo, you just won't see the performance as you would of the 4G63, and experience with both 1st gen and 2nd gen DSMs, it doesn't take a lot to go fast. I got my 1st gen GSX with stock internals and a stock 14B, no boost controller, no modification to the ECU, to run 13:019 on the 1/4 mile in Salt lake city and the Altittude is like 4,328 ft above sea level. so down @ see level I would see 12 sec passes.

Yikes don't think about doing it! My cousin bought one for his civic from ss autocrome and it blew up within a month! I told him not to do it but he didn't listen. You get what you pay for and thats the truth. Look into swapping a 4g63 6bolt and go from there. You can pick one up for relatively cheap price.

A guy on another site i'm affiated with ran a 12.382 on his stock 14b at 21psi. So with the stock turbo you can run good numbers.

ok can any one tell me where to find a 4g63 6bolt engine? and how difficult is the swap?

If you're asking these questions, you probably don't have the equipment, so it's probably out of the question for you to do alone. Hopefully you have a mechanic friend or someone with a cherry picker that can help you out to avoid huge mechanic bills.

then your best bet is selling your car and buying an eclipse with a 4g63 (gst or gsx). You will spend more money trying to get your 420a up to par with a 4g63 then if you just paid for the difference in price for the gst/x. hope this helps :dsm:

Personal experience, I would use everything in those turbo kits except for the turbo and manifold, but then that defeats the purpose. Plus judging from your profile you have a 420a which will not work anyways, do like what as said above and go to Hahns.
