Ebay Turbo Kit

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

Right now I have a rebuilt engine with JE pistons and Crower rods 8.5-1 compression, Manual BC, Boost and EGT guages, shepard racing tranny, eibach pro kit and tokico springs, B&M short shifter, and a symborski shift kit.

I plan on buying dsmlink, a front mount intercooler, a large turbo, hks cams, and bigger injectors. Im aiming for 450 horsepower, and I need to know which turbo and injector combination to go with. Any suggestions?

ok seems like you are ready for a new turbo.. good... kinda... I would go with the fuel first, if you want to assemble one the other sponsors have great prices on them. I say the cams are kinda gonna be last on the list. I would do fuel, turbo and new intake, and then do the FMIC and then finally the cams.

fuel = fuel pump, injectors, and dsmlink in your case

hrmmm full garret, 450 hp... kinda over kill.. but you have the internals to support it so go crazy... most people reach 450+ whp with the AGP T3/T4 kit.... so I say what the hell go for something bigger. :)

you might also want to consider a Fuel pressure regulator.

Whoops, I almost forgot. I also already have a K&N style intake an upper IC pipe and a 3"downpipe with a full 3" catback exhaust (no cats).

Anyway, back to the topic at hand....What do you guys think about the ebay turbo? Is it too big for my goals? How much horsepower should it create with our motors? How long should it take to spool? What size injectors do I need?

let me point out a couple of problems with that kit... it does not come with a tail wastegate... It comes with something that looks like a tail wastegate, Tial wastegate flange
does not say tail waste gate. Furthermore, the exhaust manifold is a no name brand made by god knows who... remember that this if for one of the most valuable options for your car... Last thing you need is for it to fall apart.

Lag on your car... you better bet there will be, and is it too big for your goal... probably but if you want it then get it. BUT be warned at everything I said. And we don't know who manufactures their turbos... Maybe they do and they use an OBX housing (people say its cheap and crap, no first hand experience.) I would spend a little more money and go with a real kit. You get what you pay for, and if that ebay kit for 800? which is normally 2k+, it makes one wonder.

With that said best of luck to you... and some people here I believe have a Super 70 and they said full spool is at 5k?

Honestly spend the extra couple hundred bucks and get a BR series or PTE series turbo. Just make sure you do all the supporting mods. There is no point wasting your time with an external gate setup when you can do 450hp easily on an internally gated turbo.

fp3052 requires a lot of money and adjustments to the layout that can be avoided by going with a nice PTE turbo or a BR series turbo. The BR500 and the BR580 are more than capable of making the hp you need and they will bolt directly on to the car and utilize a stock or EVO III O2 housing. PTE makes a similar series of turbos and thier 50, 54 and 57 trim turbos should be able to get you in that range with proper tuning.

The FP 3052 requires about 1500-2000 in cash. You have to pay for:

1. The turbo = $1300
2. The External Gate = $215
3. A new intake pipe = $69
4. 3" O2 housing with external wastegate dump = $425

And that's just the things I can think of off the top of my head. When all is said and done you are going to spend around $2000 for the FP 30. The FP 30 is a great setup don't get me wrong but with the PTE or BR series you just buy the turbo and install kit and your good to go.

I wouldnt get anything like that at all. Stage III turbine wheel and .84a/r exhaust housing wont spool till about 6500-7000 rpm on the 4g63. I would go with something in the .63a/r if it was me.

Several friends running the 50 trim have no spool problems whatsoever. None of the turbos I mentioned so far spool that late or anywhere near it. The FP turbos spool in the late 3s low 4s.

As far as Buschur and PTE series turbos you can get them just about anywhere, but here are a few links.

PTE Turbos:

http://www.automotosports.com/dsm_turbo.asp (they call them bolt on T3/T4s but they are PTE turbos I'm pretty sure)

http://www.slowboyracing.com/Garrett_Hybrid.html (same thing here they just use a proprietary name for them.)

Actually, I was making a statement about the ebay turbo kit, not anything that you listed. Sorry for the confusion.

ohhhhh that makes sense :) Yeah I had a buddy buy a turbo from ebay that he thought was going to be great for his car but it ended up being so big that it was worthless. He ended up making a lamp out of it.
