Has anyone bought a manifold from this guy. How was the craftsmanship? How does it compare to others. The other manifold I have been looking at that is close to my price range is the Dejon. Anyone with experience with either of these manifolds or a very good experience with another that is right in the 4-500 dollar range, I would greatly appreciate your comments.:dsm:

I found this in another thread about the new trend, at least DSM parts wise, of "replicating" parts.

Seems Jim from JM Fab is a bit upset about this.
Nice looking manifold.

Having been involved with production processes for many years, I've found that there are two ways to create value: 1, turn resouces (materials, and labor) into product. And 2, turn ideas into product. Anyone can do number one. The real money is in number two.:D

The problem with ideas is that unless they can be concealed within the product, or protected by patents, they are free for the taking.

The company I work for gets requests often to match a particular competitor's product. The first thing you do is obtain the product, then analyze and duplicate it. That's how it's done. It's not stealing, it's capitalism. Which of us works for a company that deals with a product or service that is not similar to another available elsewhere?

Now let's not talk about whether or not buying a manifold from ebay is morally correct, let's talk about whether or not it will perform.

The only real way to do this would be to do a back to back test on the same car. Perhaps someone with a Magnus can swap it out for this and report back what numbers come back.

We all know this will perform better than a stock piece, but the real question is will it perform better then the others than it "looks" like.

Injectors don't go in our manifolds.

Are you kidding me? Did you see their previous manifold? Talk about a square peg in a round hole.

Don't let the interent fool you. This is probably some ebay warrior with a mig welder in the garage.

I bought the original model and wasn't really pleased with the runner opeinnings leading to the head because the flange had a bigger opening than the runners them self. Like if you looked ath the manifold straigh on from the where it would hook up to the head you could see the runner stick up about 1/4 and inch above the flange. The rest of the manifold looked pretty good though. I liked that it was a heavy sturdy manifold to because i figured that it would take more to break it then the dejon tool I currenty have which feels like a paper weight it's so dam light. To be honest I am a big ebay advocate I have a ssautochrome manifold an ebay fmic and some other little stuff too. If they would have had this design out when I bought mine I would have stuck with it.

Ok, I just thought of a logical idea that would make even their new manifolds worthless. Notice how the inside is made to look/ act like a velocity stack? Well that works great for pulling in air, BUT, this is a turbo manifold. The air is being forced down the runners instead of being sucked in. The way the runners are sticking up and the flare are actually hindering the flow of the air. It's a logical conclusion, I don't know why I didn't see it earlier. So the old manifold, even though is a series of un-tuned boxes, would probably have less turbulence and perform better.

But the main conflict where having here is the two opposing sides of the same topic, which shows the real problem. The problem is there seems to be little engineering in this piece, and for those people who really know this stuff matters; it bothers them. Also there is a lack of quality control, and for those people out there who know this matters, this bothers them. When you get people saying it works and some people who say it was crap, well that proves a lack quality control due to the inconsistencies of the product (assuming there was engineering done). And this problem is mainly seen in the high volume, low cost Chinese products, i.e.: ebay x items. We only say its crap because we can either say: A. It can be visually inspected and seen as flawed (as in this case (bulldog)), or B. We know from experience and testimonials. We, the people who say its flawed, are only trying to save you money and help you out. But some people don't listen (including myself I must say), and are forced to learn the hard way. :thumb:

Instead of flaming everything, lets HEAR FROM SOMEBODY THAT OWNS ONE and can maybe provide us w/ hp gains/ sheets.

a buddy bought one recently and when he got it on the first day the coating were already rubbing off by holding it. there was a metal piece inside the intake manifold and we had to get it out, couldn't risk it going into the engine. the flange are a little too thin and the weld isn't as good as others like JM's manifold. I told him you get what you pay for.

this is someone who owns/ has expierence with one.

LOL, the bulldog weighs 15 pounds. That Al one is shiny, emmm, shiny.
BTW, we have already been through this,

al least in this one people didnt start talking about cams LOL. Well that was exactly a year ago, so i cant wait to see what they bring us next year.

So your tellin me that the original bulldog design is better than this so called company...."MAGNUS" because it doesn't have velocity stacks. Do you own a civic or something or you just talkin while your real tired. Magnus is arguably the best smim made for our cars for a guy makin everyday power. Your gonna tell me that their velocity stack style manifold isn't as good as the bulldog racing manifold, which by the way i"m not bashing I actualy like the new ones and I"m thinkin of trying it, because the velocity stacks will slow down air flow COME ON! Tyring to talk smart and being smart are two diffrent things. Those velocity stacks have made the magnus probably the most popular and tried and true manifold in the dsm community. Do a search about velocity stacks or even better just go threw the gallery i would bet my right arm you will see more magnus manifolds than anything else.

Sorry to come at you like that I iddn't want to come across as brash but I get real pissed when people knock ebay stuff cause I have had nothing but good luck with just about everything ebay I have bought. Be glad I responded before a magnus sponsor though he would have said worse stuff than me LOL.

Thanks, now i don’t feel like killing myself.
I guess i need to read up on velocity stack technology used for turbo cars. Since I’m going to school to become a civil engineer, i use the logic that large things which face wind resistance cause turbulence and cause force on that flat or large object. Which is something you want to avoid or keep within tolerances. I guess thies two worlds are too different.:) Sorry.

BTW i do own a honda, excepet its turbo'ed, and does a 12 sec 1/4 mi. not bad for stock, 24 year old technology. ROFL

That ebay one is the biggest pile of crap ever!!! Bought one for a project and sent it right back. I then got a JM fabrication intake manifold, very nice for the price............

Dam man you could have atleast did a back to back dyno pull agaist atleast the stock manifold to give us an idea of what it's capable of. I only sold mine because it iddn't have vacume hook ups. I think we all can agree the first ones were def inferior manifold to most of the other manifolds out there. I honestly think that the new ones are a good bang for your buc performance upgrade and if anyone will buy my dejon tool smim for $325 shipped i'll pick one up.

Rather than get into this discussion about how or if there are other intakes on the market that are better I'd just like to point out that we sold over 200 of the old manifolds and only had 1 disatisified customer that sent it back and got an imediate refund. Never had a single warrenty issue.

Also, both manifolds will make power. I'd venture to say the new manifolds will make within 5hp of any on the market. People have ran low 11's with the old style manifold possibly even 10's. People will run faster with the new manifolds. Point is, reguardless if you like this manifold or not it will make power for a lot less than others. Is it shiny light weight tig welded aluminum? NO. Will it make 40-50whp on a big turbo'd motor? YES. Will it ever fall apart? Maby with a few hundred PSI pumped through it.

As far as the flange, it is not 1/2" thick. They don't need to be as they are not built from aluminum (which conducts heat and warps like crazy) We are upgrading them to 3/8" though for aperance sakes only.

As far as our company, we have been in buisness for 7 years now and have a full 1600 sq ft facility in an industrial park, not some garage operation. We have a $30,000 cnc plasma, $7000 tig welder, multiple mig welders, CNC pressbrake, etc. We make alot of different products besides this manifold. We have the capability to produce this manifold in aluminum if we wanted to. The reason it is steel is because we would have to get at least $450 to make it from aluminum. Welding and working with aluminum is expensive abd time consuming. There are about 20 manifolds in this price range already. If you want to have a phatty blinged out aluminum manifold and have $450-750 to throw at it go for it you have a bunch to pick from. If you want to make the same amount of power for alot less money then I would seriously have a look at our mani's. If you don't like it or it doesn't make the power you expected send it back and we will refund your money.

Thanks for the space!

Well, after much research I think I will save more money and purchase the JM Fabrications manifold. I haven't read anything bad about it yet. It looks to be a very nice piece.:D

My freind bought it, we made him send it back. The flange isnt alum so its going to warp, go ahead and be test dumbies and do testing" Im not wasting money on crap products from ebay, have fun when your SS Autochrome turbos blow up, and thse crap companys.

We installed one on a NA supra, halfway through we were so shock at how crappy the kit was we took it all off and returned it back to stock and returned the kit.

We arnt talking about SS Autochrome here nor are we talking about turbos, but sheet metal intakes. Dozens of people have used there mani's with no problems at all.

What the hell are you talkin about!!!! These aren't even the people that work for ssautochrome that make these manifolds :shhh:

Whatever buy it, its junk ive held it in my hands and wouldnt use it on my car.

You asked for imput and your getting it, you just dont like to hear the truth..\

Did I say they were SSA?!!!!!!! NO! I said ive seen those also and there Ebay" And those are also junk did you not read my post.

Im just telling what ive seen, flange will warp and its build qauilty was crap there you go.

Sorry if I sound rude but some people want to hear all the good and nothing bad..

You fixed your post but you still have no idea what you talkin about. You are using this thread to vent about a bad experience you had with a ssautochrome turbo kit for a totaly different type of car. You said one sentence about the flange than ranted about a turbo kit for a supra. I will admit I am very deffensive about ebay parts as I have numerous ebay parts and have no problems but either way what your saying has noting to do with this thread. Go do a product review cause this is no place for unproductive irellivent ranting. This is about the bulldogracing sheet metal intake manifolds(both new and old) if you don't have anything to say about them :shhh:

Not every one has 10g's to throw in there car....So what im getting from this thread is if you want power then you have to spend big bucks????? Somtimes true, sometimes not....If i buy seomthing for $200 and it last 2 years then i got my money out of it.....If i buy something $800-$900 and it last 2 years then im pissed....even if it last forever, who to say that im going to be a tunner for that long? I see nothing wrong with the product, if you don't like it, the guy said that he would give you a full refund.....I love to see some dyno sheets!!! I belive that some vendors are way over priced, mabye subjects like this will cause them to keep the price down...I would like a vendor to come here and tell us how much it takes to make thier products....I bet none will answer, you know why because the sale price is double or even sometime triple the cost....Although i do understand thats this america so this is no shock...I bet if some of these vendors thought you would pay $10,000 per manifold they would charge you that....:thumb: Sorry just venting...
