Easy Remote Oil Pressure Sender

I want to run a remote oil pressure sender for my autometer gauge. I have the autometer kit. Comes with sender, gauge, 4an line etc...

The easiest way I have come up with is to use one of the two ports that are blocked on the 2g 7 bolt OFH with allen screws. The threads are 1/8 bspt.

So I will need from OFH - 1/8 bspt(male) to 4an adapter (male), 4an line, 4an(male) to 1/8 npt (female), sender.

Is this right? I want to keep my stock sender and pressure switch. Dont want to run any Tee that could leak.

why not just adapt it to that port or run a brass t fitting like most ff kits come with. I know you said no leaky t, but i am yet to have issues with the t fittings and all the fittings and lines etc. are just as susceptible if not more to failure. Just an opinion.

So I should buy a $54 oil manifold, all the fittings, and a line, etc... Way too complicated for a simple oil pressure guage.

The simple and cheap setup I came up with does mount it away from the vibrations and it has the correct thread sizes.

I honestly don't think remote mounting is keeping it simple no matter what way you do it. I am wondering why you are wanting to remote mount it anyways? And why you need to keep the stock gauge?

Stock gauge useless. Remote mount is good cause there have been reports of inaccurate readings due to vibration, and some sensors breaj off from the vibration and you can loose all your oil and be completely effed.

Jnz sell a remote kit for 24 dollars, buy that and be happy, its cheap and works well. Its away from your ofh so more accurate readings and is the Only option for cheap

Go the jnz route. Too much vibration if you tee it or pipe a manifold off the original (stock) sending unit. I personally had a tee break off and dumped 3 quarts of oil before I could shut it down. The sending unit is too heavy to hang off of a tee. Get the hose and plumb it in correctly.

+1 on remote location the vibrations will eventually cause problems, i had it happen to me, i run two ending units on remote off the OFH and one remote off my turbo oil feed line off the head

Hmm sounds interesting. I guess for me I'm not scared of the vibrations as much as I am that it hangs so low on my ffofh. Good job on the info guys thanks for the explanation three times in a row .

That oil pressure sender looks fairly different from the ones in the AEM kits that I've been looking at. Where'd you get yours?

Extreme psi, yes the one that came in my gauge was different and not marked AEM anywhere. I think this one is genuine. It's a month old

The brass one came with my gauge and i dont believe it's genuine at all. It made weird readings now and then. The new one has been great

The easiest way is to just click on one of the links and order. Both kits are less than $30. The other option is to just piece together your own kit based on the description of the parts listed.

I had an old SPI oil pressure gauge years ago that started acting wacky after a few months. The sender was mounted right on the oil filter housing. When I replaced it, the sender literally fell apart.

Sorry I was just following along with your concerns of possible leaks, wanting to keep the stock pressure sensor, warning light, and adding the autometer sensor. One fitting coming off the ofh housing is much safer than multiple fittings or a T like you said. Less chance for leaks. I was just trying to give you a way to get all the sensors and fittings away from the vibration. I also don't like other than the vibration is that the ofh is aluminum and the sensors are steel. They expand at different rates which could also loosen them.

I'm sure you can find much cheaper manifolds as well. Or even just make one. A block of metal with holes drilled and tapped in it. I got mine from a hot rod shop, thinking it was around $20 and made of billet aluminum, the one I found online was the first one that popped up on an internet search to show you what I meant.
