I didn't mean to make it sound like I am basing my choice solely on price. If money wasn't an issue I'd be running MGP or Groden aluminum rods or a set of A beam Carrillo's. I'm just saying for what I paid for a brand new set, plus the oiling hole, plus they're lighter then Eagles; I chose the SCAT's. Others will argue that SCAT's are not as good and you don't really need that oiling hole. Truth be told you don't NEED that oiling hole, I just like the extra piece of mind.

I run eagle rods in my 5.0l mustang for the past 5 years with 0 problems :) I love them. I run scat rods in my gsx and torched a bearing and a rod, but that was my own dumb fault for using a bad crank. new bearings and a new rod and it runs like a champ now :)

I love scat, eagle is known to have problems every once in while.
This post is not helpful or informative at all. Did you even read the thread???

Not quite. I've seen some nasty stuff come out of both of their facilities. I've seen more quality issues with Scat than Eagle. I had a customer that had some issues with a scat rotating assembly that I sold him. He sent it back to us for inspection, and I was baffled to say the least. I almost needed a tetanus shot after handling the thing.

With both companys (and almost any manufacturing company these days), some less-than-par product is going to sneak out from time to time. But the majority of the product is in spec, and fine to use. It's up to us as consumers to make sure that the product we receive is just as we ordered.

With that being said, I use Eagles.

Just to add to this thread some more, I don't really think that there is a night and day difference between the 2. I too have seen some sub-par product slip out from both company's from time to time. There are people that have proven that both are good rods, I'm sure there are horror stories from both as well. There is a lot of things to consider when buying engine components. I don't think anyone that is serious about building a motor would argue that for the price both rods are a GREAT value. It comes down to personal preference at the end of the day. You can ask owners of either and they'll tell you reasons why each rod was there choice. I'm glad this thread came up and I hope other comparison threads like this come along. I think with SCAT being not as well known in the dsm community as the Eagles, that some just use Eagle or recommend them. I'm not trying to disrespect anyones opinion or experiences, but everyone has to do there own research and decided what they feel is satisfactory for them. Enough rambling, I'm going to work...
