e-brake problem?

Ok well I got my 95 gsx today and I went to park it in my driveway and I pulled the e-brake up and the car still rolled backwards. I forgot to put the car in gear, it was just in neutral. I'm wondering if maybe my rear brakes are out or if my e-brake is just non-existant. How much would it cost to get the e-brake fixed or is there a way I can tighten it up? If it's the brakes would I have to replace the rotors or just the pads? Thanks...

if when you lift it and if it doesnt feel like it a tightening up then you could try to tighten it up... right underneither the e-brake handle there should be a nut/screw it may not be veiwable when you pull the e-brake up so u may have to take some things apart to get to it . And when you are going to replace the brakes you could grind the rotor if its still in good shape and buy new pads.

It sounds like you need to tighten your e-brake. If you can pull yours all the way back and it still doesn't grab then it def. needs tightened. The good thing is adjusting the e-brake on a dsm is one of the easiest things I have ever done. All you have to do is remove the center console, put the e-brake down, loosen the nut on the adjuster and tighten it by moving it whatever way makes it tighter(sorry, can't remember which way it was, been a while). Tighten the nut back up and bam, your e-brake's as good as new!

Thanks, you just made my day a lot better. The last thing I wanted to do was buy a new e-brake.
