Welp I know very well that TIG is contrlable via the peddle thas what I use however it does put more heat into the material yes you can weld thinner stuff but go ahead and see just how hot the rest of it gets when you weld just one spot. The reason that is heats up more is tig being a slower process you first pool the metal then add the rod so its not like arc or MIG where the filler is added as soon as the arc is striked so you are constantly keeping the heat in the metal but you maybe not adding material. This causes it to heat up much more rapidly I have done both TIG and MIG on aluminium and the TIG is nicer but it causes the piece to heat up much more.
