Welp I know very well that TIG is contrlable via the peddle thas what I use however it does put more heat into the material yes you can weld thinner stuff but go ahead and see just how hot the rest of it gets when you weld just one spot. The reason that is heats up more is tig being a slower process you first pool the metal then add the rod so its not like arc or MIG where the filler is added as soon as the arc is striked so you are constantly keeping the heat in the metal but you maybe not adding material. This causes it to heat up much more rapidly I have done both TIG and MIG on aluminium and the TIG is nicer but it causes the piece to heat up much more.

Please excuse my comment if it seemed intrusive. I was trying to jump off your post at SSautochromes welding process, or lackthereof.

Besides, I own a Miller 220 w/ the spool gun myself. You'd be amazed what that thing can do with even .035 aluminum wire in it on 18ga when setup properly!

case in point: Maybe SS auto chrome could use some Miller 220's!?!! !

Hahah no harm no foul.

I can only post on this subject from me personally seeing and no not a DSM manifold but enough to scare me the WG inlet for the SS autochrome Manifold for a civic they were doing the install on. Just from seeing that NO I would not even try the 175 bucks for the DSM one.

Sorry i forgot to attatch the link. but i looked again and it was an ssautochrome. i didnt see the name on the page it was in small print. im looking for a new exhaust manifold becasue mine has a crack in it.

I dont know how much you were paying for the SS autochrome piece, but i will sell you a real part if you need it, i will give you a deal. I have a 2g exhaust manifold with a ported collector in my garage (step removed). I will sell it to you for 90 bucks shipped.
