Well today my car was running great this morning, then i stopped and picked up a pcv valve(been having a little issue with oil out the dipstick tube at high boost, nothing major) and installed it real quick.I went inside my work for an hour and came out and went down the street and everything felt great until i hit 12 lbs of boost. When i hit between 10-15lbs the exhaust tone goes flat and the car stammers and wont boost any harder. When i let off and cruise below 10lbs the car runs great? It repeated this same behavior the whole 40 miles home.
The first thing i did when i got home was a boost leak test, and no leaks at all besides a VERY minor leak at the t.b. shaft seal which has been like that since i can remember. Then i put my old pcv valve on,even though the new one seemed fine. Then i made sure my injector cables were all tight, and checked all my plug wire connections etc..Needless to say i just went for a ride and the same thing is happening!! It just goes flat at 12 or so lbs and my exhaust sounds like someone sitting on a whoopie cusion and it wont boost any harder and feels stuck. It feels like it is trying to boost harder but running out of air or fuel or something.Im not quite sure what to check next, short of bringing it to the shop, and its been running great up to this point. My w/b seems normal and stays at 11.5-11.8 or so at full throttle
My car is a 90 gsx with a evo3 16g,evo 3 exhaust manifold,evo3 02,wally 255,3 inch turbo back exhaust(no cat),short route fmic,880cc injectors, evo maf, perrin m.b.c.,running on e85 with my ecu chipped for injector/maf comp,e-85 tune and all the other goodies you can get with an eprom chip.Any suggestions would be helpful please.
ok,i just went to the auto parts store and picked up some seafoam and put it in my gas tank.I was thinking that it could possibly have something to do with the fact that it is the first really rainy day since i switched over to e-85 a month ago.Maybe it could be moisture or back goo from the extra moisture in the air? I went ahead and pulled off my bov as well to check it to make sure it wasnt maybe bov flutter or something, and the bov is functioning properly. Then i went for a ride again and still the same!Only this time it would go from 11.5 when boost first comes on to 12.8-13.5 or so when it starts to stammer,so maybe a clogged fuel filter or injector?
RESOLVED!!! At least for the time being. Not that it matters since nobody responded to this thread, but incase someone read it and gets the same issue ill let y'all know what happened.I went to english racing and picked up some e-98 and put 1.5 gallons of that and a can of seafoam into my gas tank and the issue has gone away for the time being.Im guessing that it was either moisture or black goo in my e-85 that was causing it.It just took about 40-50 miles of driving for the seafoam and quality ethanol to do it's thing.
