Dying cylinder... need help!

I occasionally while driving on the freeway have had a bad shaking going on from the motor. It had happened a few times and will do it until I floor it with the clutch in, and then will be fine for a bit but will eventually do it again. A couple weeks back noticed that the car was shaking no matter what I did, so I went through the normal maintenance by changing plugs and wires, and to my surprise, the number 4 cylinder (the one on the far right which I believe is #4) was not firing. I shed a few tears and drove it home, only the next day to start it up and it be fine. Does anyone have any clue what this could be? I'm gonna do a compression test on each cylinder soon just to make sure but anyone have a clue? The only reason I decided to even post this is because it just started again after about a week or so of no problems...

When you say it's not firing do you mean it's not getting spark? Your problem is most likely electrical since it's an on/off thing. The one on the far right is cylinder 1. Swap plug wires 4 and 1 and check each wire for spark again. If it's the other one that's now not firing it's the wire.

sorry forgot to mention that I did check spark and am getting plenty. The plugs and wires on that are less than a thousand miles old now and just pulled them, they seem to be still in great condition.

So how do you know it's not firing????

Cause when I pulled the wire off of the plug, the engine didn't change it's tone at all, but with the other three it almost died. I also pulled the plug to see if it was sparking, and it's spark was bright and strong....

sounds like the injector may be screwing up on that cylinder or something is wrong with the wiring. Does it throw a cel?

On only two occasions it has. The time when it ran for three days straight like that however, it did not. As a matter of fact, it's doing it right now and threw a cel for like 10 seconds then it went back off. I know that the spark is still good though cause I can pull the plug wire and set it by something metal and still hear the spark.... help!

Even if it was for 10 seconds it will record it and you can pick up the old info. Scan the car and see what comes up.
