Ah, what the hell. After this, no one is going to believe any advice I have, but it will be fun. My "dumbest DSM" moment revolves around, me!

I bought the Spyder back in 1999 and didn't know anything about a turbocharged vehicle. My previous car was a Mazda RX-7, but a rotary is nothing even close to the 4G63. Before that, it was a VW Rabbit which I owned when I didn't care about cars other than getting from point A to B.

Anyway, I had a mechanic check out the car and he said everything was in great shape. But after having the car for a day or so, I noticed this "noise" every time I left my foot off the throttle (see where this is going ) I was concerned that something was wrong with the car, so I called the dealer. I asked them if it was a normal noise for a turbocharged vehicle. The first dealership said they would have to look at the car and charge me a $75 diagnostic fee.

The second dealership put one of his techs on the phone and I explained the noise to him. He laughed and said, that's normal, it's the BOV.

Let the Wiseman flaming begin.

Why go through all the work if you can't feel the power?!? Seriously, the hard part is done....freakin' hot-pipe it from the compressor outlet to the throttle body and you have horsepower.

The funniest part of this? The dude probably has no idea why his car isn't making boost.

Got another one for you, I think this was both of our faults on this one.
I'm at the gas station, pulling to the pump and there's a old red dirty coupe on the other side but I spotted a aftermarket muffler poking out and slanted to the right (JDM Tyte Yo!). So I go to pay and watch the guy checking out my car. I finish up and go outside...
"Hey nice car."
"Thanks man, looks like you've been playing with your too. Eclipse right?"
"Yeap it's the turbo verison..."
Now know I didnt know crap about turbos at this time or exactly how they worked so I'm eatting up everything he says.
"...But the turbo was bad so I took it off so I could still drive it where waiting for my new one to come in."
"Really? Cool so what turbo you getting?"
"I'm gonna run a Evo 9 MR turbo. I have an Evo motor in here so it'll bolt right up."
"So no fab work?"
"None bro, like I said, Evo motor."
"You know, clearly I'm wrong cause you're doing it but I didn't think you could run a turbo motor without the turbo on it."
"Yeap man, you're wrong on that one."

Not a dsmer but i went to the Used car lot the other day, I saw a Black FD Rx7 and it was Auto, Since my dad cant drive stick anymore and wanted a sporty car, I took him to look at it. The salesman were trying to explain to me all about it, and I kept telling them I know two people that have them then they stopped trying to BS me. but the first thing he told my dad was "You know this car was in that movie, Fast and the Furious". Right Then I looked at him and said "Thats the kind of Sh!t that gets us all caught up by the cops" and then he hands my dads the keys .

The kid I got mu eclipse from got a talon about a month and half ago. and When he took me for a ride in it. I couldn't reach the lap belt on the floor and he was like "Woah! My car has lap belts? I thought it only had the automatic shoulder belts!" He's an idiot he doesn't even know what his own car has especially something like that really it's seat belts.
He thought when Heavy duty trucks have the HD on them that stands for heavy duty. He thought that meant High Definition.... I was like umm So it's that clear huh? can't even see the pixels?

Last summer a kid in a 2g n/a parked next to me at the mall. He asked if I wanted to be in a car club, I said no. So he went on to ask me what my mods were and how fast my car was. I didn't say much, didn't want to talk to him. Then he goes on to tell me he is the fastest guy in his club and pretty soon he is getting a turbo kit for his car and will be running 30 lbs of boost, no engine mods other than the turbo. He finished the conversation with. I'll race you when I get it back from the shop. Ummm. ok.

LMFAO wow what a retard. Every one knows you can only do 25 lbs of boost with that setup gezz.

3.guy i worked with in a machine shop argued with me that there is no way a dsm could make 500hp....he asked me if i had a turbo and he said he knew guys with fully built 426's that struggle to make 400hp and he said im full of sh*t

I here that, my friend has a 80's Camero and thinks just cause I have a 4 cyclender his car is way more badass. But whats so fun about not having any handling and only having a chevy 305 with 170 crank HP (). He likes to think that having a turbo and awd is like cheeting, cause its too easy to make hp, but isn't that why DSM's are so fun to have (apart for breaking something everyother week). Now personally I think V8s are cool but only in ether olders cars that are completely restored and nice (unlike his camero) or in the Koenigsegg ccx (my personal favorite car). Point being he has the same mind set as the guy qouted above.

Yesterday I was installing another turbo on my T-Type when some random guy that came over with my brother in-law, looked at the turbo and asked what size it was, so I responed, than he told me his Homeboy* had a SRT-4 with twin 90 trim's on it...Me and my Homeboy started laughing our asses off and had to get another beer after hearing that one.

However, it is possible he was telling the truth.

Trim refers only to the relationship between the compressor inducer and exducer. You could have a 90 trim with a 40mm compressor exducer or one with a 140mm exducer.

I still seriously doubt it, he definitely just grabbed for something to make it sound like he knew what you were talking about.
