Duals are a bit heavier than single. Pretty aggressive though on the valve train. Singles will work for the majority of us dsmers.

will aftermarket 4g63 springs work as well? seeing as though the stock 4g63 valve springs fit. Since most 4g63 aftermarket springs have stronger seat and open pressures then aftermarket 420a springs

Well, just like the name implies, a single spring is one spring, where a dual spring is two springs, a spring in a spring.

If the stock 4g63 spring will fit on the 420a head, the aftermarket 4g63 springs will too.

Now when you compare the aftermarket springs from the 420a and the 4g63 look at the installed height and installed pressures. Also look at the inch rate of the spring.
