If I get a dual stage boost controller then I can run low boost for good gas mileage and switch to high boost for performance with no fuel problems right? i think this is a stupid question but i just want to make sure
Thanks,
Corey

if you think about it... you really control boost with how much pressure you put to the pedal. sooooo.. I have an MBC set at 16.5 psi and daily, I never reach over 10 psi until i'm pushing her.

sooooooo... if you're looking to save gas mileage, just be easy on the throttle. but to answer your question I'd say it would, but i wouldn't spend 200+ bucks to do it

I use the dejon tool dual stage LO-HI controller.

I got mine used for 50 bux. I run 11psi and with a flick of a switch it jumps to 15psi. It is a BIG difference too when activated. Boost comes on harder and faster. Throttle response in relation to boost jumps up as well so I know im not just imagining the boost coming faster when I turn on the solenoid.

I recommend it totally..its under 100 dollars I believe? www.dejontool.com

Lots of reviews on it also at dsmreviews.com

Is it possible to have a dual stage boost controller and an Apex'i Safc II? I like the idea of a dual stage, but I think having two different boost settings would really mess with the safc. Unless of course the safc had two fuel trims for the hi and low boost settings on the mbc, which I don't think it does. Can anybody provide any insight to this??? Thanks | "B"

OMGggg, i have never understood the logic in dual mbc, look if u want to have good gas mileage, THEN DONT GIVE IT FULL THROTTLE, turbos spool up, when u have it at WOT as the rpms get higher, the boost gets higher, i mean if u were saving gas u would NEVER even hit boost because u should be shifting at 3k, yes thats boring and i would never do anything like that, but i just dont see what the point is in paying extra money and wiring a switch in ur cockpit just for 5 psi? I mean if u were gonna race someone u would be running as much safe boost as u could, so just get a standard MBC, set it to 16 psi, and shift when u get to 10, easy way to hear ur spool up, get extra power, and engage ur BOV when u shift.

I can kinda see how it would be useful for bigger turbos that "kick in" instead of spool up, and it is kind of a conveniance, but for me that sounds like total 2fast2furious, wannabe james bond ricer shit, to have a switch in ur interior to give u 5 more psi, IMHO.

i'd recommend the Apex'i AVC-R, mostly just because of all the other info it gives you, as well as letting you change the boost to 3 diff settings, although i agree with most here, boost controllers aren't really that necessary for normal driving, but that is why the AVC-R is pretty good, because it also does lots of other stuff, although, its a mission to install and set up..

No. You're never going to see "good" gas mileage on a turbo DSM. However, lower boost will be easier on the engine, and true abuse can be saved for the "high boost" setting.

It's easy enough to build a 2 stage controller yourself. All you need is a vacuum switching valve, your controllers, another T, and some vacuum line.

The only reasons I see for having a 2 stage, is to run street and track boost, or to try to keep low boost until you get moving to eliminate wheel spin and then flip it up. Whenever you're in any boost, you aren't really going to get good gas milage, so if that's your goal, do like the others said and drive easier.

when i drive my car normaly i only see a pound to a pound and a half of boost and i'm at 20psi...i don't see the point in the dual mbc....i just don't lay into it if i had a dual mbc one at stock one at 20....i'ld never see the 10 unless i wanted to anyway....waste of money...build an mbc for $6 at home depot, and be gentle

If you dont like a dual MBC, fine. Just dont post and assume that people want to be "FTF" and what not. Its a pretty shallow assumption honestly. I use a small simple black on and off switch so theres nothing ricey, flashy, or 007 about it.

I use it because I get on it sometimes and dont really need to run 15psi on the street. When I go to the track, I turn it up with a flick of the switch.

Plus it was only 50bux used so its not like I broke the bank for it.

For some people its about convenience.

Anyway, to the original poster, hope you got your answer.
