I'm getting ready to purchase parts for a dual piston front brake setup and had a question on the rotors I need to get. I plan on getting Powerslot from STM but there seems to be multiple options. I have a 93 Non-abs FWD, when upgrading, what rotors do I purchase from their drop down? Do I go with the 90-92 AWD non-abs, do I go with 93-94 AWD, or do I go with the 95-99 AWD? Does it depend on if I get the 1g dual piston calipers or 2g calipers?

Thanks guys

Well i would get the ones for your car if you have abs or non, or if its awd, justin or brian can clarify if you have any questions at stm.

92-99 will use the same rotors, this is AWD models. AWD models had dual pistons those years. 1g duals are the same aa 2g dual pistons calipers except the thread for the brake line is different and/or will need a banjo fitting.

The rotors you want will be 27.5 cm (275mm) in diameter. the 2 pistons use rotors that are 2 cm bigger than 1 piston calipers.

Does you car have ABS?

I would also look into upgrade your brake cylinder to the stock upgraded 1". Most likely you are running the 15/16" MBC

I had a feeling that was the only difference in 1g/2g calipers was the brake line. My car is non-abs so I was safe in assuming anything non-abs. As far as the master cylinder goes, I've been told by members on here that if it isn't showing any signs of wear then my 15/16" would be perfectly fine and that it's not necessary to upgrade. The only thing it would do is provide a *slightly* firmer pedal feel. I will probably upgrade it eventually but I don't feel it would be completely necessary to do immediately.

I too am looking into upgrading to dual piston front calipers. I have a buddy upgrading his 2g to the 3KVR4 brakes and I was gonna steal his stock duals. My research has found that the only difference from the actual calipers is how the brake line attaches. Does anyone know if there are any vendors who sell the braided brake hose as pairs instead of 4 wheel sets?

That's a good question boss. I don't think so. Which really sucks because like you and I, we're only upgrading the front calipers. Looks like we'll both be having a spare set of rear braided lines just laying around for a car we don't have :thumb:

2g style calipers use a banjo bolt instead of a flared end that screws in like the 1g style. Many of our supporting vendors can get you the brake lines you need, just give any of them a call, stm extremepsi jnz rtm the list goes on.

The change to "big brakes" did NOT happen until '93, so the above statement should say '93-'99 roots are the same.

Also keep in mind that 2G's have more room "behind" the rotor. So some aftermarket 2G brake kits take advantage of this extra space and move the rotor back (from its stock location). Consequently, those kits will not fit on 1Gs (so it is more than just the brake line issue).

This is true,

I just want to note that 92-99 or 92.5-99 dates are used because most vendors go by those grouped dates when dealing with brakes with DSMs.
