Drove the ESi from Chicago to Columbia South Carolina. Some 850+ miles for 11 hours straight. Me and my boy switched off driving and only stopped for gas. Literally drove 11 hours, stopped for about 30 minutes, and put the car on the dyno in SC as soon as we got there. Car never cooled down. Luckily, it made it back in 1 piece. Only problem I had was the side market popped out while driving 11 hours straight back. Was hanging by the wire.
Same year, drove from Chicago to St. Paul MN. Car was then turboed, so was more worried about that. Was about 6 hour drive, can't remember the mileage. Again, stopped only for gas and once for food. Oh and traffic jams. Only problems were one of the exhaust housing bolts popped out of the turbo, so leaving Mall of America, the car got really loud due to the exhaust leak. Took a bolt from the PS reservoir and was in there until I pulled the motor actually. Second problem was getting rear-ended while stuck in traffic on the way back home. Was a little tap, no marks or anything. I wasn't even that pissed. Just yelled at the guy for some time.
Everyone else cars were having problems out in MN. One dude was having massive overheating issued, so we hardwired the fans for the time being in the middle of the ghetto off the expressway. Was good times though.
