DSMs how much power to play with bikes?

my buddy runs high 10's all day long on his 03 600rr with a full exhaust. the bike has some more left in it as well I would think. He picked me up from work once and we had a 1g dsm take a run against us. He pulled a little on us which doesent really mean much. I weigh in @ 200lbs which is alot ontop of his 150 on the back of a 600. No idea what the 1g had done to it besides an exhaust.

i held off a nice bike up till the end of 3rd gear in my gt from a stop. either i can drive severly good(it was one of my best launches yet) or he cant ride his bike.

i wouldve kept going but any more and i wouldve missed the onramp for the freeway, i went in it sideways as it was(my favorite onramp, has permanent black marks where i hit it sideways every time).

but youre gonna need quite a bit to take one from a roll. at least 350-400 to even make it worth running, and thats against a older 600, not a newer bike like a R1 or such.

Why do you not think a straight t3, forged and stroked, water to air intercooler and just a MAFT to tune with, could beat all those cars. His car has atleast 500whp.

Straight T3 and 500whp don't belong in the same sentence. :nono:

If you race a bike from a dig, you will probably loose. Race him from a roll on the highway. A 400 horsepower DSM will pull on a 600cc bike from 60-160. Bikes have a MEAN 1/8 mile weather they launch or not. 600cc's are JUNK on the highway.

TurboSpoolinIns also posted a vid of him pulling on a bike. His old 1G was making over 600whp, btw.

Let me guess, you don't own a bike nor have you been on one and actually opened it up? How about a dsm with some balls?

I agree, everyone I know will automatically ALWAYS say the bike will win, but the thing is most people have never actually riden in a car whether it be a dsm or not, with some balls, run a bike with a fast 350-400whp AWD DSM from a stop and I'd put my money on the dsm, (bike being 600-750cc). 1000cc......... well thats a different story :p

No, never. I mean a 60-1 has nooo balls...

Look at bikes. They do the 1/8th mile in mid to high 7's stock. Thats a mid 11 secound pass for a DSM. Most people on here don't have a mid 11 secound DSMs. Their for going from a dig would be a stupid idea. However, most 600cc and 750cc bikes are dogs on the highway becase of aerodyamics. That is why a mid 12 secound DSM will hang and pass a bike from a 60-160mph race. That is why I said race from a roll on the highway.

Dude, someone has to say it, you are RETARDED! Aerodynamics hurt 600s and 750s but not 1000s? They're the same thing, just longer swingarm and they sit a touch higher, but no "aerodynamic" advantages. I OWNED a 99 gsxr600 and I currently have an 02 1000. My friends 10 gsxr600 is aerodynamically the same as my 1000, the reason the 1000 is faster is because it makes more power. Simple as that. Trust me I know my bikes, and if you check my mod list I know dsms too!

You need to look at what a bike traps at in the 1/4 mile, not the time. Trap speed shows you if they have balls up top or not. Why do you think a 1000 DESTROYS a 600 even though it's only roughly .7-.8 seconds faster in the 1/4? Trap speed is almost 20 mph higher, thats why!

Sure a high 7 second 1/8th mile comes out to a mid 11 or so for a dsm, but what does the dsm trap in the 1/8th and what does the bike trap in the 1/8? Then how about 1/4 on both? That tells you which pulls harder when.

A dsm is all about the launch, unless you get really crazy but then you need slicks and shit too to hook out of the hole. A bike makes the best power out of the hole too ( a 600 or 750 ) but 90% of people on them can't launch them properly. That's what you need to bet on, not that your car is faster. TRAP SPEEDS, not ETs!

i just rode today for the first time today (01 f4i) and i have a lightly modded eclipse, and eventhough i only took the bike to a max of 7000rpm (redline is 14,500rpm) i can't imagine the eclipse keeping up with it. it felt fast as balls. the f4i in stock form runs a 10.6 in the 1/4 mile..

Uhhh, wtf are you talking about? So your saying you have a better chance at beating a 600cc bike from a dig then from a roll on the highway? You sir are retarded. If you are racing from a dig, you look at E/T. From a roll you look at trap. E/T is the time it takes to get to a distance. When you race from a dig, you want to accelerate as fast as you can in the shortest amount of distance. That was why I was looking at the 1/8 mile for bikes. They will run the 1/8 mile faster then most DSMs on this site do. But they trap lower. Which MEANS its better to race from a roll on the highway. Am I wrong?

I just have 1 question, Why!!!!!1

It is like asking a vette to race a civic, different leagues, well thats how i feel about it.

I have seen vids of a busa with big bore kit race a twin turbo viper, The viper actually hung with it.

There was a Video of a FP GREEN'd 1g awd dusting a 600cc bike on a roll.

Luda doesnt like street race talk.

Becuase their is nothing like watching and hearing a biker full in it on the freeway, and watching him fade behind you in your mirrors.

While your watching him in the mirror, you smash into a car killing everyone including yourself.

I guess me and luda then shares the same views on street racing. Ill just sit back and wait for this to be locked.

No you aren't wrong, but the few bikes you see at the track are the ones who CAN launch their bikes. 90% of crotch rocket guys CAN'T launch them and will lose a good second worth of time compared to a good rider that can launch the bike in the 1/8th mile. Racing off a roll doesn't involve any skill as far as the rider goes since a 600 cc bike on the highway will not wheelie or take off hard enough to throw you off. On the highway it's pure power that determines who's faster, out of the hole theres a good chance the bike will loose because nobody can launch them properly. Besides, on the highway to beat a bike you'd need a huge turbo. By the time you hit full boost he'll be ahead of you by a car or so already.

Wow I'm rekindling old stuff, but I searched out bikes and this is what I found. All I'm going to say is I ran 10.5 on my 01 R1 last year in the 1/4 so if you have a car that runs better than that, you'll win. I've had it up to 191 on the speedo (which they're all wrong from the factory) so if you're faster than that you'll win, against my bike with me on it mind you. The problem with bikes is that you never know about the rider, you may pull up on someone who can ride but the likelihood is that they can't and they bought the bike because it looked cool or they thought they'd be cool etc. etc. Unfortunately it's alot like the rice boy scene with cars, lots of show, but no real go.

Dont even talk about 1,000 they are beast and out of most street cars reach, and keep the street racing talk down.

This was just a dicusion and a convo if alot of racing on the street gets brought up the thread will be a lock.

On a side note, you have a much better chance on the topend......

But its much harder to ride a bike so it all depends on the rider

I have only raced one bike before, and it was from a roll. It was a friend in a stock 2002 Suzuki TL1000S. 1000cc V-Twin. We started at about 50mph and went to 120ish. This was in my 1g FWD, 50trim, 2.3L, cams, etc, etc, 25psi. He barely got the jump on me (spooling up), hit boost, pulled right past him a few cars and he never caught up.
