They have a clutch kit that uses the 2100PP with a stock Mitsu clutch disc instead of an ACT disc. Is there going to be a big difference between the stock disc and the ACT street disc? I've also heard ACT PP's should be used with ACT clutch discs or they may not wear as long. Is this true?

Ok, it was TRE that discouraged using stock discs with ACT PP's. But in my research Pruven uses ACT PP's with a stock disc as do several guys on this board. Does TRE have their head up their keisters or are these other people just driving on borrowed time?

The ACT 2100 will be fine with a stock disk. It may burn out faster, but it will work. I paid $349 shipped for an ACT 2100 with ACT disk.

Thanks, I guess I'll just go ahead and do it. I don't drag it, I'm pretty easy on the clutch so I hope it should hold ok. I'm still wondering if there is some material incompatibility between the ACT PP and the Mitsu disc, so I'll call RRE today and make sure I shouldn't experience problems. Thanks. :)

I have the ACT 2100 kit--ACT disc and pressure plate. It works great for me. I don't really see the reasoning behind an OEM disc but ACT plate.

The ACT disc is "more aggressive". It grabs better. It also has 6 springs to absorb the shock/beating it will take, instead of 2 like the OEM disc.

Personally, I would just spend the extra $15-30 and get the ACT kit. I'm pretty sure you can get it cheaper than the $350 on DSMparts.com from some other vendor.

As for the throwout bearing, some people insist on using OEM for that. Others say the ACT is fine. That subject I don't know much about.

RRE is $335 for the all ACT affair, so it's only $20 more. I just wouldn't mind a little smoother engagement, but with the 2100 I'd probably be fine anyway. I was really turned off by the driveline lash of the 2600 equipped car I drove, however, moreso than the pedal pressure. I just wanted to avoid that lash.

I think the 2100 kit feels the same as the OEM setup. Since you've got AWD, I would go with the ACT kit (disc and pp). The clutch is where you're going to be slipping, not the wheels, so you might as well go for something that'll take a little more punishment.

I talked with RRE and they told me not to waste my time with the stock disc so I went with the full ACT 2100 kit from them plus the braided clutch line. I just ordered my master/slave cylinder rebuild kits yesterday and I'll pick up some synchomesh next week. Hope it all works out . . .

Try reading what TRE is saying first, they give a proper reason why you should not do this, they don't have their head up their asses. I have witnessed this problem last year with the stock 2G disk being used with a NEW ACT 2600 clutch.
I am emphasizing new for the following reason, ACT has redesigned their clutches, I don't know exactly when, I believe it has been in the last couple of years. The reason why you may hear this ACT/OEM disk combination is that this used to work quite well, I have done it, friends have done it, and others have done it....but my clutch is old, really old.
