Toronto,
hey i talked with a few honda friends of mine and they are telling me all dsm owners they know got their cars parked in their garages broken...LOL
is it true that dsms arent reliable? any bad experiences with them here?

you people are so narrow minded... no matter what you say, a honda is more reliable than a DSM will ever be. DSM's are NOT commuter cars, not even a stock turbo will run as long as an n/a civic. stop being conceided and face the facts. civics do look like hamsters tho.....

and for that guy who would take a 1g eclipse over an nsx, you are way to narrow minded, open up your closed mind and face reality.

Its all up to you. Do you want reliabilty or performance? If you want reliabilty then go honda, nothing can beat honda reliability. Now for performance, of course you are sacrificing reliability a little bit, but I think its worth it. As long as you buy a car thats in good shape and hasnt been beat on, and you dont beat on it or mod it too much, it will be a reliable car. Most damage is caused by driving habits, not mods. A car that runs 12s but is driven well will probably be more reliable then a stock DSM that gets the piss beat out of it. Just treat it well, do maintence and repairs on time, BEFORE you mod! And also make sure you have every supporting mod you need before you put on bigger turbos and run crazy amounts of boost. The 4G63 can take it but it needs support, like fuel mods BEFORE a bigger turbo, etc. If you want the car to be super dependable just do intake, exhaust, BOV (if u want) and leave the rest stock and it will still be reliable as stock and still able to beat the hell out of most cars you will encounter. Some people dont relize how fast these cars are STOCK! Just my $0.02! :thumb: :dsm: :thumb:

Oh man!
I just did a speech presentation for class about car maintenance. It was great, I used my Talon as a comparison to my '95 Corolla for reliablity. You know what they say "Take care of your car, and it will take care of you." When I owned a DSM it was on jackstands every weekend. I'm not saying I always beat the shit out of it, it had already been beaten well enough when I got it. Poor thing. Anyway, the best thing to do when buying a dsm, or any new car for this matter is check everything out. I beat my friends RSX-S and all he could say was "Well, Chris, at least my water pump isn't broken." Oh yeah water pumps on 4g63's are a pain...someone out there can relate. Good luck.

sucks everyone is baggin on DSM reliability b/c im lookin at buyin a 95 talon and modding it, i have a slowboy 16g, emanage, profec and i plan on getting injectors, fp, i/c but the reliability scares. i have a mustang runnin low 13's with EVERY bolt on and its terrible for daily use, but i figured the talon would be better. especially if i had two boost settings setup with the emanage for daily use and track abuse.

Nice good job talking to honduh owners about dsms that's the way to go :thumbdown

Dsms get bad reliability not from the actual cars in them selves those are fine - but more from idiots like your honduh friends who's first mod is to get a big turbo throw it on the car and boost it to like 30psi without doing any supporting mods - if you want to enter the dsm world get rid of those stupid ricers first ;) :dsm:

exactly what I am talking about forget low 13s first you need to get regular maintence done and then supporting mods then think about upgrading the turbo !

czech: i have all the maintenance done, the motor was torn down and rebuilt, the trans was inspected professionally, new clutch and flywheel, the whole car is in tip top shape

Oooookay, then. The unanswerable, yet obviously known question has now been jabbered over enough for this round.

Seeya in two weeks, when yet someone else posts the same pointless question.
