Hi everyone. I'll admit right away that I don't have very much knowledge of DSMs in general, but I've always been a fan of them and I'm now in the market for one. I have $7k to spend on a 1g DSM and found an interesting car for $6k not extremely far from me. I just want you're opinions on it and whether or not I should buy it. Here is what the seller listed as far as mods:

1994 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX (velocity red, rx8 red)

Engine:
6-bolt 4g63 2 liter block bored .30 over line honed and decked
Ross .30 over pistons
Eagle H beam connecting rods
Clevite bearings
Web Cam 272 camshafts intake/exhaust
valve job with new seats
Supertech 78lb valve springs with titanium retainers
MLS 4 layer head gasket
750cc injectors
Walbro 255lph fuel pump
polished intake manifold
Battery relocated to trunk

Forced induction:
2.5 inch polished intercooler piping
JRC 27x10x3 intercooler
Garrett gt3561 turbo with "S" compressor cover
Autolab custom tubular manifold
Tial 38mm external wastegate with dump
Custom 3inch turboback exhaust with magnaflow muffler
Turbosmart blow off valve vented to atmosphere
4 inch FP intake
Summit coolant overflow tank

Tuning:
MAF translator
Apex-I S-AFC tuned for pump and race gas
PLX wideband digital air/fuel monitor
HKS turbo timer
Autometer Boost, and EGT gauges
Autometer shiftlight
powdercoated black valve cover
NGK plug wires
Manual boost controller

Drivetrain:
Stock 1st generation AWD transmission
ACT2600 clutch
Rota slipstreams with tires with great tread left
Tein S-Tech springs

Also has Porsche HID's installed (work great)

Car has been recently detailed/waxed/sealed...

Asking price of 6000.00 or best offer.

Here are a few pics of it:

The car looks pretty darn clean inside and out for 130k miles IMO. The built engine has 5500 miles on it. The seller claimed the car put down 408 HP to the ground with a smaller (50 trim) turbo and a non-built engine before, so he estimates 500+ HP with the forged internals and gt35 turbo. Does this sound about right or BS? Should I buy it?

Thanks!
Matt

[Edit]
I forgot to mention that this would be my daily driver until I finish college in 2 years, and it would also see the occasional drag/auto-x.

Looks clean. I can say that for all the parts already on the car you would have more than that into it if you tried to build it yourself.

Check compression, drain fluids and inspect before buying.

And good luck dsm's love maintenance

Wooow, nicely done up. Looks like it's a good buy, go for it man the AWD is unforgiving.

EDIT: I would also trade my car for that car.

I wouldn't haev to think about it twice, haha.
I would'nt think about it twice but if I was in his predicament i'd have some one else think about it twice. I.E. Take some with who has a little more knowlege then you good luck with your search.

;)

Looks good but I usually try to find one as close to stock as possible. There is nothing like buying someone elses headache. These cars tend to be rigged together sometimes by people who don't know exactly what they are doing. If you feel comfortable with it go ahead and buy it.

and the AFPR??? That bad boy is running rich I bet. Drive it and check out how that transmission feels, and have someone with a little knowledge of DSM's come out with you. Take it home so you can look it over and do a compression test. It is always a risk buying someone else's project.

That car is local (here in louisville). Owner did everything right. A great machine shop did all the work, he assembled the long block and dropped it in. In the time he has had it done (I think its been around 2 years now) never once have I heard about it having a problem. If you would like I can put you in touch with the guy who owns it, and the guy he bought it from who built it.
