dsm link/emission problems

Hello all you dsmers i'm having issues with pasing emissions it doesnt fail or pass, It reads not ready they tell me keep driving put miles on it and i did. See it was being worked on for 6 months so battery disconected.My machanic talked to a mitsu person and they said because of the dsm link it will never be ready. What I'm looking for my machanic says is the cable that comes with the dsm link and maybe another computer for emissions. Either way I have to buy another dsm link they say. Am I being played, is it true? Or if anybody has that cable i just need it to get my computer ready. I'm in phoenix AZ HELP

DSMLink itself will not interfere with or help your OBD ready status. It can help you tune the car to pass the sniffer and even has a feature to show you the ready status of the emissions systems, but Link itself will not stop the emissions from being ready. Alternatively, it will not fake the OBD readiness either. So no, you do not need to remove or change the DSMLink hardware in your car. You just need to set the monitors to "ready" the same way you would if the car was stock.

From what I have read, there isn't a way to simulate the monitors as it would interfere in an illegal way. I could be wrong as I've never attempted it first hand, but according to a few wiseman in old threads it cannot.

Straight from the horses mouth:

I just went through the inspection process 2 weekends ago with DSMLink in my 98. Passed with flying colors. We run OBD2 plus the sniffer in the tailpipe in Houston, Texas.

I have full emissions on my car...high flow cat included. Couldn't tell you anything otherwise.

Others are correct that there is a feature inside Link to let you know the status of your sensors.

I know for sure that there is NO WAY to set a sensor as complete inside Link and Tom or Dave will not do it either. That could open up some serious trouble for them and would be plain stupid on their part to do so.

As stated, that's not to say that if someone was knowledgeable in that area that I'm sure it could be done. I just wouldn't suggest it.

It was never in the official dsmlink software and you needed a palm pilot to do it. I used to do it every time my car had to be tested. and all my readiness monitor would pass even though I have all emmisions stuff removed.

Sorry, I assumed you meant with just DSMLink. That's interesting to know though, a thread on how to do so would be very beneficial.

I don't think there are any threads on here that tell exactly how to do it because its not officially supported. But read the thread you linked to carefully and there are hints on where to look for more info, even a post in that thread by the creator the software.

I just went to get my emissions test done like an hour ago. I'm running V2 with mods in profile. I don't have EGR or an MDP sensor due to the manifold. What i did was went to the DTC tab and unchecked the
Evap/EGR/MDP box and the Cat efficiency/02 box. I passed my emissions test and it says all my systems were ready except
Secondary Air - Unsupported
Heated Catalyst - Unsupported
EGR Flow - Not Ready
EVAP control - unsupported.

I dont know if this helps but yeah

In california that would not pass, we cannot have any cells and a certain # of the monitors have to say ready.

I know this is an old post, but figured it's worthwhile to mention (for others) that if you check off the box to not log egr cel prior to the state being completed for example, that it will remain incomplete until Dtc is enabled and cycles. I think this is the issue many people with link run into in regards to readiness state.
