after about 4-5 months, i finally finished my build... i thought. about 2 weeks ago it started making a noise in the tranny. i had just hired a -master tech- at my job and he said (without looking at the car... its still home) it was the TOB. symptoms are:
theres a noise but it goes away when the clutch is pressed; appears when its engaged-- exactly like this video: YouTube - Input Shaft Bearing?
but everyone on here says that if the tob was bad it would make noise when its engaged and go away when the pedal isnt pressed.... and that it would be an input shaft bearing (according to the searches ive done and my symptoms)
so i dropped my trans today and inspected the input shafts... the main one has no play, the xcase shaft has slight play in and out and none side to side... i made a video showing thisYouTube - Dsm tranny shaft test
i tried to rock the clutch/flywheel to see if the flywheel bolts had came loose, but i had no play-- so im guessing thats good... or should i remove the clutch to recheck the FW bolts-- unnecessary?
let me know what you think -- thanx
EDIT:--almost forgot... a few days ago i was going to go on a test drive and i had trouble shifting into gear (1,2 and reverse) also when i would move the car, it would feel like the car/clutch wouldnt engage and then all of a sudden "catch" and then move.. this was at low speeds (3mph-ish... i was just moving the car in the driveway)
