Hey guys,

Picked up a running 95 TSI AWD this time. There is a slight problem that's I'm a little concerned about. Whenever I lift off on the throttle, the drivetrain would experience a jolt. My friends' 2.5RS and WRX also have the same problem.

Are there solutions to this problem? Should I be concerned?

Thanks.

Auto or manual? Could be a motor mount, u-joint, carrier bearing, loose tranny to motor bolts or something internal.

I would guess a motor mount, since I have replaced so many of those on all of my cars over the years. If you accelerate hard from a stop and have stock motor mounts, the frt/rear torque mounts are the first to go.

It's a 5 speed. It happens even when I don't accelerate hard. Basically it feels like anytime the throttle becomes closed too quickly the car jolts a bit. Maybe it's the idle air controller?

Zhao, what's up, it's Erik. My daily driver auto Talon does this some times. Usually when I pull out form a stop or something. I'd take a look at the U joints and also look at the carrier bearings for the driveshaft. Sometimes the rubber tears or is just really weak and the driveshaft will have too much play in the carrier housing.
