driveshaft issues for a friend

One of the mechanics I work with thinks his 90 eagle talon tsi is making too much power for his driveshafts and is afraid he is going to break them if he goes drag racing. He has a 2.5 inch dp, hi-flow cat, catback, Big 16G with EVO 8 compressor wheel. I didnt think he'd be making enough power with his setup but maybe you guys will know better.

Eventually he may want to look for a 4 bolt rear end but i doubt he'll have any worries any time soon. As long as front, rear and prop shaft look fine, as in no boots ripped or components worn he shouldn't have anything to really worry about.

The OEM driveshaft has supported 500+ HP so as Jeff said above, unless it's in need of repairs (u-joint, lobro) should be fine.

The 3-bolt rear on the 90-91.5 is definitely a weak piece. But unless your friend has a lowered suspension (more prone to bottom out rear) or likes to launch at 6K on sticky tires, it should hold up. Then again , for $350-450 a used LSD 4-bolt is a very nice upgrade
