driver side axle leak after tranny swap

ok so i did a auto to manual tranny swap. all is good but my driver side seal on the tranny is leaking. i tryed replacing the seal with a new one from the dealer. but it still leaks as soon as i fill it up. is there a differents in the hard shaft on the driver side from manual to auto. they look the same when put them next to each other but my old shaft from the automatic was in better shape. so i used my auto shaft. did i make a big mistake. it drives fine but it still leaks??

sound like the diameter of the shaft on the auto was smaller. Did you measure it.

according to the interchange book they are different. You will need the axle that came with the tranny

If it wasnt leaking before trace the things you changed.

When I replaced my front axles, Checker asked if I had the auto, or 5 speed. So I'm guessing that they're different sizes. You don't want that leaking and still driving around on it. Last thing you want is to get some dirt or grease in that tranny, so get that other axle in there.

Also, BIG props for doing the switch! I thought about it, but don't have a donor car.

I went thru the same exact problem. I ended up just going back to the old one and it work grate.

yea it ended up being that the auto shaft sealed at a different point then the manual. installed manual and no more leak.. thank you
