I'm relatively new to the DSM forums, but I have been reading about them (vfaq etc.) for quite some time. There is yet one question that still remains.

How driveable (as in daily driver) is a low 12 second DSM?

I plan on building a 2G when I'm done with college (<1yr thank god!). I obviously want a fast car, but I want to keep the car as driveable as possible. I have seen at least one car on this website that runs low 12's on pump gas... that would be ideal.

Anyways are there many problems that occur when a dsm gets that fast that keep it from being used daily?

I have heard things like:
-having to take off like a mad man from every stop to avoid stalling (a lightened flywheel would amplify this right?);
-That larger injectors have can have crappy and unpredictible flow rates when operating at smaller flow rates. This leads to crappy idle etc. Is this something that the S-AFC / EMS can compensate for on its low throttle settings?
-How do the aftermarket cams (264/272, 272/272) affect how these cars run? My stepbrother has a 400hp mustang with a huge cam that dies at almost every stoplight. It's a pain in the ass to say the least.
-Having to let the car warm up for 3-5? min. before it can be driven etc...

Are there any other issues that I should consider?

-Thanks for any input you have.

many people on here have 12 second dsm's that are their daily drivers. it will be reliable if you dont half-ass the mods(i.e. do them ghetto and use duct tape and such), if you perform all your maintenance on a regular basis(oil, filter, plugs, etc) and change the timing belt at 60k intervals, starting at 60k(some people like to do 50k intervals because higher hp tends to wear out the belt a little faster). with a good tune and cams more than likely youre idle wont change much, might be a little lopey but not enough to stall. as for clutch, most AWD guys have a act2100lb pressure plate, and they can drive normally. i have the 2100 and i can still take off as slow as i want.

if you take the car to 12's and expect it to stay together with no maintenance then yeah it wont be reliable at all. if youre a guy that likes to pop the hood and inspect everything once a week like hoses, plugs, oil level, other lubricant levels and such then she will hold together very nicely.
