Dripping oil from crankcase breather filter...

i have noticed that my crankcase breather filter always has a drop of oil on the bottom of it and seems to be leaking oil onto the block. after about a week of driving, my oil level turns up low and i have to add oil, i have checked and there are no other oil leaks and the engine was just rebuilt, with 3500 miles on it currently, it does not seem to be burning any aswell. has anybody had this problem? it seems like the filter is not retaining the oil like its supposed to. i just replaced it about a month ago too...

any help would be appreciated.

LOL, I find this amuzing and informative.

When I bought my car the PCV was vented to the atmosphere. Everything seems fine. I think where it used to run into the intake mani is blocked off. So what should I do keep it venting to the air or just block it off at the valve cover?
 
Nooooo don't block off the valve cover! I think we can all agree on that. The engine needs some way to relieve crankcase pressure.

Just leave it venting if that's what you've been doing and it's working.
 
If indeed you still have a real PCV attached while venting, you might as well cap it off.:) If you want to remain vented, make sure that the PCV valve is hollowed out or replaced with a straight barb fitting. If you're interested in running it right, check out this thread.

Right, rings are not your problem as long as the compression numbers stand. Sorry we forgot about you.:D I would also check LICP for oil, you could be losing oil through the turbo seal due to either higher oil pressure, poor oil return or both. Are your balance shafts removed?
 
So oldman, are you saying that everything works normally still if there is a good check valve after the pcv, just no boost leaks b/c of the pcv or am I reading that thread wrong...?

The heavy duty check valve is there to prevent intake pressure from entering the crankcase as PCV valves are know to do. The PCV valve is kept in place to regulate flow back into the intake manifold when the system is under vacuum condition for proper a/f. I know Tyler will say PCV does not affect afr but anyone who has access to dsmlink site knows there are specific compensations for a disabled PCV, much like a hacked maf.

ok i will check the LICP for oil leakage. yes my balance shafts are removed. thanks for the help. LOL i didnt know my thread would start such an uprising LOL!ROFL
