For the serious racer or DSM people, what type of suspension set-ups are you using? I spoke with my fabricator about an 8611 set-up and he's all game! He has an S13 240SX that eats the pavement better than his old tein set-up so im interested. However the other day I ran into an old buddy who used to run 8611 Konis in his BMW 325I. He now uses a company from holland called AST suspension and said it handles way better than his old setup when he used 8611 Konis. The AST will build a custom set of double adjustables from between $2500-3000. Another Option was a KW Variaint 3 from an EVO adapted for a 1G Eclipse. The koni inserts alone cost $1280 plus about $600 housings and $300 for camber caster plates, and then of course all the mounting pieces. I know it sounds crazy to put this much money into a 1G but i love the 1G eclipse and I have a great starting point, I own the car LOL! So should I take a chance and get the AST set-up or try my buddies tried and true 8611 setup? Any help is appreciated!

My goals are to build a competitive street class time attack car. It states in the rules double adjustable suspension allowed but no extenral reservoirs. And I will have the money for either set in August but trying to do some research and also take any other advice from othe DSM guys to know a good setup that will be competitive. I know many use K-Sports and Megans but I want a little more quality than them. The good thing about the Koni set-up is they are proven time and time again. I can take time to build that set-up and not break the bank all at once. I have over a year to build the car so time is not an option either.
