My wife is buying a 93 Talon, and I have a 92 talon - yeah we're cool like that.

I was thinking since my drivers door lock is disfunctional (I have to unlock the door from the passenger side to unlock my car)

Would it be possible to get locks for both cars, drivers/pass door, as well as the ignition's for both cars utilizing the SAME key for both cars.

this way we can just carry 1 key for both cars.

(trunk isnt an issue, I use the latch by the drivers seat to open the trunk anyhow)

Any suggestions on if this is possible, and if so, where could I get this done?

if not, I need to fix my drivers key and ignition and get new keys anyhow. these originals, and even new keys are having issues.. I think I'm due for new lock/key's anyhow.

Thanks

Hmm. Only challenge is the price. I don't know if you'd be better-off having a locksmith re-key one car to match the other, or to get a whole set from a dealer. I don't know if a dealer could get you new locksets in a specific pattern, or if it's kind of what's-on-the-shelf.

I'd start with a locksmith, but I've had very good experiences with them. I wonder sometimes if they're not the only professionals left.

Is the problem on your driver's door the lock, or the key wear?

I tend to agree about locksmiths, they are very professional, but also a dying breed. - electronics is replacing solid key structures

The problem is my drivers door Lock, the key I had remade, and they ajusted several versions to make up for various differnces within the lock itself to see if it would make it unlock smoother. it didnt work.

Basicly. the lock finally wore out.

I guess that's what happens when you work near and in detroit :p you locked your doors A LOT.

You could trade it with the passenger side -since you're already married, opening her door is just wasted energy  - or, a locksmith could rebuild the worn cylinder. Just a matter of putting in new plugs.

never thought of swaping it out with the Passenger side lock.

not a bad idea.

Having a locksmith rebuild the cylinder. I could probably do it myself too. or at least try.

thanks

Another alternative would be salvage yard parts you could buy a couple of door handle assemblies and an ignition switch on the cheap then have a locksmith match them to the wifes key, Bam both cars on the same key.

Just my thoughts on it.
