Door lock problem

I've read other threads but none seemed to really hit the spot.

right now, my driver side door will not lock.

i've recently replaced the door handled and discovered the lock cylinder is gone. i went ahead and ordered a new cylinder. when i went to try to install the cylinder yesterday (which was successful), the door wasn't locking. I had the cylinder connected to the rod..and from what i could see, the rod went into this little 'box' that was on the inside. i would turn the key and see it unlock (i know it unlocks because it also unlocks the passenger door), but when i turn the key the other way, nothing happens, and i see the rod barely come up from that "box"

any solutions? ideas? i've been wanting to put in this $300 head unit i got...hard to do when u got no security you know?

I was thinking the rod is bent badly...it doesn't look like it..but if that's the case, how would the door unlock but not lock?

Hey man sounds like a positioning problem. Are you able to turn it in the locking direction (can't remember the direction off hand). If you are unable to turn it at all then take it out and look at how it is positioned in the hole you may have it turned the wrong way one direction or the other. Let me know if this helps at all.

I'm able to turn it to the lock position..but it's like it doesn't do anything.

Double check that all your bolts are tightened and that the plastic clips are all still hooked on right.
