This isn't another "My door handle broke!" thread.

When my car was last painted, I think the guy painting put the wrong screw in the door to hold the handle in place. This has led to the threaded piece in the handle to break loose and just spin with the screw. Any ideas on getting the screw out? I was thinking about taking my dremel and cutting the screw off as close to the door as I can and hoping it will allow me to remove it.

I have 2 new handles on the way.

Its been a while since I've replaced one of the handles, so I couldn't remember if there is any play in the handle before putting that screw in. Enough for me to cut the end off and push inwards. I guess I'll find out soon enough.

BTW, I used RCAZ handle reinforcement kit on my drivers handle... well now the handle is actually about to split in two. The arms are holding strong though!:thumb:

I used that kit too, and im now looking for a new drivers side handle.

For all of you who have a broken handle go to autozone and get it there for 20$. I replaced my handle 3x. Also you get a 1 year warranty or lifetime warranty, I don't remember.

As for your handle problem. It could be that the lock mechanism isn't aligned with its rod. If it does not lock or grip tight when you pull the handle or try to open when you insert your key. It could be possible your lock mechanism is broken.

Everything functions properly for now, they just wear out over time. Could be different for everybody depending on where they live. In KY we have bitter cold winters, and pretty hot summers. I'm sure this is hard on such cheap plastic.

I found a pair from direct auto on ebay for $15, they have 1 year warranty on them. They always tend to last just long enough to be out of warranty, like most things in life.
