Recently the Laser started acting up and shaking when it tried to boost. I started out by changing the spark plugs out which they were extremely fouled and that fixed the problem temporarily. After a few days of driving it, the car will not start. It sounds like it wants to ignite but no ignition. some times it will start up but you have to be on the gas to get it going and most of the time it will just die like its bogging down when you try to give it more gas. I cant get it to run now.....I used to have the logger program to run a diagnostic on it but lost the program. can anyone help me out and maybe tell me what could be going on? I am going to take it to the garage if i cant figure it out soon. Thank you  :laser:

Oh I forgot to add that the check engine light stays on all the time as well.....usually that light has something to do with emissions correct? :laser:

On a 1G very few of the CEL's are strictly emissions related. The bulk of them are real failures of various sensors and shouldn't be ignored.

You got the link to MMCD in another thread, get it loaded on your PDA and check the codes, that will give you a starting point for diagnosis.

Have you checked the plugs again?

Steve

Just a thought. I had a similar issue and found that it was the plug going to the ignition transistor had come loose. Being an older car, the clip was gone when I got it. I used some dielectric grease to help hold it. It seems ok now. You might check it. It could be that simple.

i pulled the wires off the plugs and put them back on and it started up but died right of way. Is that MMcd program free or do i have to pay for it?

MMCD is free. You just have to download it.

Like already stated, check the connection to the ignition transistor, coil pack, and cas. If all those are tight, check the ecu for leaking caps and damaged circuit board.

There are multiple releases and different places to download from.

Here it the most current developed from the original author:
(I think it is 1.5b, you should download mmcd tools from here too.)

http://mmcdlogger.sourceforge.net/

This version is used by those of use who do our own chips or use emulator:
(has some issues with MAF and mmcd tools)

There is also a 1.6n and 1.8g version on the 3k forums. You have to be a member to get the link.

I'm personally running the 1.6n version and am satisfied with it.

I just remembered I used palm'n'stein where can i get that program?

also I took my car to the shop to see what the hell was going on with it and they said there was 5 fault codes all sensors bad......they said the possibility of all those sensors going bad at once is slim and that they all share a common ground.....well my car had a jerry rigged alarm system and they wired it to the ecu i guess and isnt hooked up properly. The alarm has been disabled since before i got it. The garage says the problem may be those wires but could very well be the ecu. Does this sound right? I dont want to get screwed over by this place.... :laser:

Aftermarket alarms are usually good for stranding the owner, locking him out, going off at 2 am for no reason etc. Have it professionally surgically removed. Let's see what happens after that.

yea they are surgically removing it and then going to fix all the wires and run the diagnostic on it again....im hoping its not the ecu i dont have the money for a new one right now. :laser:

I agree. I have never seen a bun ch of sensors go bad. One note just for grins. Take a schematic and pin test the integrity of a couple of your sensors wiring to the pcm input. Just in case some wires got cut or something crazy like that.

ok so the garage pulled the alarm out and fixed up all of the wiring and fired her up and worked fine but still had the check eng light on and then died again. so they started trouble shooting the wires again and the same codes showed on the diagnostic. Also it kept popping fuses so they would replace the fuses and then it would pop other replace them and pop the first ones again. they then noticed no output from the ecu. The final conclusion they made was a bad ecu. Does this sound right? they say they cant use mitsu products on this car because its a chrysler/ mitsu mix.....i thought its the same all the way around? help anyone? :laser:
