Does the transmission matter when replacing the turbo?

A friend of mine blew the turbo in his 91 AWD eclipse (automatic). I got another 14b to replace it. Does the transmission, being that it's an auto, change anything about the turbo?

Stupid ?, i know, but I will have never asked since I own a 5spd and HE owns an auto... so spare me....

Thanks guys.

Yeah on the first gens the automatics have a smaller turbo and manifold.

If you can get him a 2g manifold and o2 housing to go along with his new turbo. It should be a nice upgrade.
