Yea you can get the injen intake kit for $30-50 on ebay.

If anyone seriously says, its inferior to the injen one because its ebay knockoff, prove it.

Oh man, that is no good. California is just getting downright nuts. I read about an instance where they impounded over 20 cars they deemed "street racer" and then crushed them all in front of their owners. It was a total loss for the owners and they hadn't even been caught racing; they just had modified cars.

I would honestly give up and buy something that is already fast from the factory because buying CARB legal parts and barely being able to do anything with your car just seems like it defeats the whole point of building a car. If they see you sitting too low or a front mount hanging out they're gonna nail you. An EVO comes with a front mount and a decent sized turbo already. Maybe look for a used VIII? Good luck whatever happens, and also, cheap and Injen don't belong in the same sentence together .

As far as I know only the K&N FPIK has the carb sticker. But please correct me if im wrong if the injen comes with one. That is why I don't care too much for the injen, esp paying $150-200 for it when you get the same thing on ebay for $30-60 shipped and comes with an extra filter adapter. Who needs customer service, if your into DSMs and need customer service for something as simple as an intake pipe, perhaps DSMs are not right for you

ps, I hope you didn't spend $300 on an injen intake that you said you saw. K&N FPIK = $100, injen knockoff intake on ebay (not black) = $30-40 shipped and you have a $140 carbed legal with sticker intake system, including pipe and filter, sell the now extra filter and filter adapter you have and the extra additional filter adapter and you even will make some of your money back.

The article you read about on the cars being crushed happened local to me. It was three cars, not 20. They were not crushed for being 'street racers', they were crushed because it was proven that the cars had stolen parts on them (one engine, the other two trannies). In some areas, cars *caught* street racing can be crushed, but it's usually reserved for repeat-offenders. The reason everyone seems to think they're crushing cars left and right is due to those three Hondas (yes, Acura is just an overpriced Honda) getting crushed, and the local newspaper/media playing up the 'STREET RACING MENACE Z!!1!' aspect.

That said, Injen has a CARB exemption number/sticker for their intake parts, which is why they're expensive... they're legal. But make sure you get a REAL Injen... some sell lookalike knockoffs, complete with the 'Injen' printing on them, which do not come with the CARB exemption. Make sure you're getting a real one, if you choose to eBay.

Bloody ridiculous though, $300 for a length of f**king PIPE, all thanks to der smognazis. REALLY hate living in The People's Republic of California sometimes. Healthnazis, smognazis, activists... people devoted to sticking their noses up other people's a******s and telling them how to live, when it's none of their bloody business in the first place.

RedTurboEclipse, no. The filter is legal, but the smog check will pop you for the intake pipe. Both the filter and the pipe need CARB numbers to pass. Like I said, ridiculous.

I have an Injen IS (short ram) intake system on my GST. I like it just fine. That said, I wouldn't recommend buying it when you can get basically the same thing for $30 on eBay. The only reason I have an Injen intake pipe is because I got it for dirt cheap off a friend. Honestly, I'm not sure if its CARB legal... like I said I bought it used from a friend and it came with no CARB exempt sticker.

Another option to consider is to just keep the stock snorkel intake hose and do the free restrictor mod. Then spend the money you saved on the K&N FIPK.. arguably the best option when it comes to air filters for your DSM as it performs very well and its CARB exempt.

Also, if you are thinking of running the Injen intake pipe or the eBay knock-off pipe in conjunction with the K&N FIPK, you're in for a very tight squeeze. The K&N filter barely clears the passenger side fender well. I have this setup and it will work but it is a tight fit.

A DSMer, esp a 2g running a stock bov, inquiring about an intake, on a DSM tuning website? Throw out all you heard or read from injen away, and listen to what we have already mentioned.

i just recieved my injen intake the other day from hopupracing...after installing it...the intake really free up a few hp...the low rpm felt the same...but when it went to around 4-6000 rpm...it picked up good and i felt power...the intake really made a big difference on the bov sound...my friend said he could hear it down the street...and im running a stock bov...it sounds like im venting but im recirculating...it is loud...shoosshh...
