do you think these HID'S look nice? yes or no?

having a talon I can't get the ebay projectors to do something like this as I'd have "the gap"

Has anyone retro fitted say one of the small BMW 3 series projectors into the stock reflector housing? I'm gonna have a spare headlight sitting around soon so maybe I'll look into that.

I have retrofitted many a car. I plan on retrofitting my GSX when I get it running correctly.

HID kits are junk. Not to mention if hooked up to your stock 55w Halogen wiring harness, you risk the chance of ruining every electrical part of your car. An HID ballast draws up to 3x the amount of a standard 55w bulb upon ignition of the bulb. after the bub is ignited, then it draws 30w

You think if you install the hid retro you have to use the stock wiring harness? Nah...what you do is make a custom one with thicker wires and a relay. I have a picture of the configuration for anyone needing to make one for the e46.

A lot of information in this thread. Some good, some not so good. HID, if it was a factory option on your car, isn't illegal. Putting someone else's headlights into your car is. Now, if you do a proper retrofit, your chances of getting caught go down dramatically. Like Defiant said, it's unlikely they would get you just for that. 4300 is the temp most, if not all, manufacturers use. It's the whitest and the best light output. I personally ran with 6000, and I could tell the difference. The higher the temperature, the less light you get. The blue/purple you see on audis/bmws and such is mostly the cutoff, not the bulb temperature. My headlights had a mean blue/purple cutoff, and had the same look over bumps. I wrote a retrofit guide a while back when I did my install. I've also seen a guide written where the guide retorfitted HID projectors into his stock DSM headlights. It wasn't my style, but it can be done. If you are going to put HID bulbs into your car, make sure to use OEM HID projectors. Not the cheap ebay halogen projectors and definitely NOT the stock halogen reflector housings. I paid 600 for the A4 projectors, 2 ballasts, and 2 6000k bulbs (it would have been 450 if I went with 4300k bulbs). Then another 200 or so for the projector headlights. Plus a little more for misc nuts, bolts, etc to get the retro done.

Having done the retrofit already (TSX projectors, Phillips DS2's 4300k etc.) I can tell you that the difference between just installing an ebay HID kit in your stock headlights is NIGHT AND DAY. How do I know? Because I once had that setup (10,000k :toobad: ). It was bright as hell, but the light would reflect everywhere, and I mean everywhere. I would have my brother drive behind me and it would be a pain to look in his rear view mirror. The light would even reflect in trees and such.

After scouting Ebay for a while I picked up some TSX pros and a pair of those Ebay $80 projector headlights. I also got my hands on some Phillips 4300K DS2's after doing a ton of research about choosing the correct (k). The process was very time consuming but once the project was done I would just drive around at night just for the fun of it.
