hi.

this got me by surprise, I have 2g awd dsm with tein ss coilover and shock combo with struttower all adjustable. i have the srtut bars front and rear, i have the camber kit front and rear, and my rims are 18" enkei's lightweigh with kuhmos 225/40/18

My friend has a lancer rallyart 2005 completely stock suspension.

we both took a really huge highway exit "the ones that make a circle" i was going as fast as i could take the curve and my tyres were squeeling and i could feel the car going loose. but this lancer rallyart was almost hitting my rear bumper on that curve.

then i asked him and he said that he can take that curve at higher speed.

SO is it normal rallyarts have better handling than eclipses even with my suspension. or am I having alignment problems.

Was your car making a nice smooth line through the turn? Tires squealing tells you they are at their limit of grip. So either they are not sticky enough, or the tires have a bad contact patch and you should check the alignment.

A less than smooth line through the turn would let you know the suspension isn't liking it.

I don't know how the Lancers should compare.

I bet those 18's don't help a lot, and AWD is going to handle certain corners differently then FWD

THIS IS My personal opinion, so please don't reiterate this as fact, but I belive that your suspension itself might need a little more tuning, dropped with 18's might not have the maximum tire grip in a corne, and from I know about AWD, you guys can make tighter corners by accelerating on the gas out of the corner, instead of coasting on part of it. (please dont' go out and try this and do anything to your car).

Is your camber correct all the way around. Did you have everything aligned professionally after the suspension upgrades? If things are out of whack it'll decrease your cornering ability as well as wear your tires improperly.

I've got to think there is something up with your setup. I don't know much about the lancer Ralliarts but I doubt theres much difference from the stock Lancer, even if they do have some suspension tweeks, I would think you still would have a big advantage with your setup. The factory doesn't usually use the grippest tires, he is fwd, he probably has an open diff etc. your setup should have him beat in every area. Maybe being a newer car/design the chassis is stiffer but with your upgrades I would think it would help makeup the difference. Have you ever had a proper alignment at the current ride height? If not I'd say thats a good place to start.
