Disco potato turbo can i get some input ?

i just purchased a turbo setup (30 mins ago) from a friend for 700 it came with a obx manifold t28 garret discoo potato turbo j pipe downpipe a fmic greddy bov and all the hard piping for the intercooler and turbo.

with that explained i have not found another dsm running a disco potato turbo.... this concerns me a little bit granted they are expinsive and a big 16g is cheaper and can make 320-350 hp so ive been told and i have been told i can make 300whp with a DP are they good turbos any input would be nice to have

The term Disco Potato was coined from a magazine sr20 project car that had a unique color combo.
It was intended to be a direct replacement to the stock silvia t25 and remain very quick spooling.
Here's a compressor map and it seems to flow a little more than 35lb/min at choke.

Is the manifold and o2 housing you have a direct bolton to your 4g63?
You're looking at similar performance most likely to what a small 16g will offer you

yes its all direct bolt on to my 4g63. all in all do you guys think 700 was a good price for everything the turbo was just rebuilt never ran on a car

That's an ok price for a BB turbo. But the small 16g spools SO fast and does flow as much and HAS made 350whp on a DSM with the stock exhaust manifold and costs less than that new. If you were getting a gt30r for that price, it would be a great deal! You atleast have all you need to swap to a gt30r easily if you want more power.

I'm running a t-28 on my tsi. They are good turbos and I'm sure you can get 300 whp. I'm running 19psi on e85 and it feels crazy fast.

got it on the car pushing 16 lbs of boost and its SOOOOOOO much better then the ebay 16g i was using pulled about 4 cars on my friend in his laser with an ebay 16g tuned and he was also pushing 16psi and he is tuned with 600 cc injectors i use to only pull about a car on him so im really impressed with this turbo and im not finished tuning =)

My friend brad drives a 98 Eclipse RS and he thinks it got like 374 horsepower and goes real fast.

I just don't even bother with trying to teach him anymore. His daily is a S-10 with a 4.3 chevy, painted dash pieces, chrome tailights, carbon fiber wiper blades, a bunch stickers and underglows setting on 20s. I keep telling him to drive the eclipse it gets 34mpg and he just says that is his project and he is gonna turbo it to try and break 400 horsepower.

i put that turbo on my mazda speed protege along with a perrin front mount and full custom 3 inch turbo back exhaust i think it was made by ghl i belive any how that was years ago,but i was very impressed with the turbo spooled fast and was the loudest turbo ive ever owned, sounded as if i was driving down the street next to a side walk id suck in small children but any how i think thats a good price,dont know how much i payed because insurance paid for it long story water got sucked in my cold air during a rain storm and toasted my stock setup thanks geico
