my cay sometimes doesnt want to turn on and just shuts down after I turn the key all the way thru.. the only way I can work around this is by disconnecting the battery for about 1-2mins then trying again.. even this takes 2-4 tries before the car acually starts.
everything turns on in ACC mode, I get lights and stereo but as soon as I turn the key further to start the car I hear a CLICK and everything shuts off and dies
I replaced the battery, starter and fueses
IM LOST! argh!! I'm thinking its has something to do with the OEM security in the car...
help!

thanks!

I got a New battery and I checked the ground, everything looked fine to me... unless I missed something. How do I check if the ground is okay? I mean everything gets power okay.. I'll double check tomorrow night.

I can get the car to start up okay just takes a few tries..

Ground? Try grounds. The main one goes from the battery and bolts on with a starter bolt to the bellhousing <-- good chance that one is your issue. A small one goes from the intake manifold to the firewall. Not to mention the other various grounds all over (mostly inside the car).

You can use a multimeter to test connections, checking ohms and/or checking volts.

its not a ground. i had to help a friend bypass the security in his 1997 grand am gt. i also used this trick on many different makes of vehicles as well without problems or failure to work.

heres a trick i was tought by my father and uncle. turn you ignition key to the on position without starting it leave it left on for 10-15 min. you can put a battery charger on it to keep the battery topped off to prevent it from going dead. after leaving the ignition on for the 10-15 min start the car (dont turn the ignition off then start) just follow threw with the key motion.

during the above process leave all the lights off and dont tunr anything on it the car. after this process of resetting the factory security system it will start on every try without hesitation.

I had something similar happen...It turned out to be some dirty/bad battery terminals.

sounds like this could work for me... I'll try it, altho I'm still going to check out my ground cable to my alt

I thought so too, I bought a new battery from autozone and had it tested...

I'm going out to autozone to buy some new battery terminals too... just in case ;)

sounds like a plan. i would try the ideas that are cheapest or free first thow just in case it fixes it so you dont go and waste money that can be put towards something more important. IMOA
