Different engagement point with Xact flywheel?

So I swapped my OEM flywheel for an Xact. I reused the 2600 pressure plate with it but got a new full face disc. Now my clutch pedal seems to engage about an inch and a half from the floor. I can't adjust the master cylinder rod at all. It's at the end of it's threads. My clutch fork is brand new as is the pivot ball. Any ideas as to why it grabs so quickly? Maybe it's the new pressure plate, or something not working right?
 
Nobody knows? Is there a noticeable differen't with the engagement point when using an Xact flywheel as apposed to an oem one?
 
Its possible that the flywheel surface on the XACT is sitting closer to the block than the stock flywheel and now your clutch fork has to move further in its range of travel to disengage the clutch.

Putting some sort of shim between the crank and the back of the flywheel may help by moving the flywheel away from the block. I haven't tried this and don't know of negative implications so do it at your own risk.
 
Well I ordered the Taboo shop extended slave cylinder rod today. Any idea how much that extends the throw to?

All that I know, is that the Taboo rod is .25" longer than the OEM piece.

That should be enough to solve the problem. I just read about this piece on their site. Looks pretty nice.

Just be sure that the slave cylinder is not pushing the fork so hard that it starts hitting the transmission casing. You'll end up breaking stuff that way.
 
Okay, will do, thanks. I'm not sure if I'll even need the extended rod yet.. I've only taken it for a drive up the street. On a slightly different subject, if the small amount of play at the bottom of the clutch pedal throw means that it's not fully dissengaging, then can I expect it to damage synchros by causing them to grind, or just premature wear of the friction surface of the synchros?

If the clutch is not disengaging properly, it can cause syncro wear (I imagine.) It will definitely wear the clutch down.

In that case wouldn't a telltale sign of improper dissengagement be that you can smell the clutch while you're driving around town? In other words, if I don't smell clutch then I'm okay?
