I was poking around under the hood the other day and noticed that my injectors are different colors. The ones all the way to the left and to the right are blue top. The two in the middle are yellow top. I know the stock ones are usually blue top right? I'm just wondering if those two yellow ones in the middle are the same size or not . Any help on this would be great.

Are you sure they are your injectors and not your injector plugs? My plugs for the harness are blue and orange...the ones on cylinders 2,3 are different than 1,4 but all my actual injectors are pink (560cc). Hope this helps....If not, I think the yellow top injectors are 510cc?? from the evo 3 and the blues are 450cc from the dsm manual tranny's. And if your still not sure, just pull the injectors and it tells you what cc it is on the side :thumb:

+1
I agree with this man.

i checked VFAQ, but could not find the colors of injectors. It did say that the stock M/T are 450's and auto are 380's. I have 450's, but my car is a auto. I upgraded to M/T injectors..

Yea its where the wire connects to them. They could still be 450cc even though they are different color right?

No what they are trying to tell you is that you have to make sure your talking about the color of the injector body where the connector would attach and not the color of the harness side connectors themselves.

Well its dark out so Ill use this pic as an example.

Its the part circled in red. I believe that is what i am seeing. It has a wire connecting to the top of it.

So thats why I am running so rich. I seriously hate the guy that sold me this car. Anyway, What do I need to change injectors? I have never done it before. What will I need for parts besides injectors and what will I need for tools?

its simple but what you need is some 450's out of a manual i got an extra set ill sell if u want. but enough of that no selling in non classified ads. but you will need an oring kit if you buy used ones. new ones should come with the new orings. and you will probly need the orings that go into the intake manifold other than that its just the three bolts on top of the fuel rail. put some vaseline on the rings so when you put them in they dont tear up. then make sure they are in good and tighten em down. remember whatever you take off that has an oring you need to replace it. or it will leak.

when pulling out the injectors and putting the others in, be sure to not drop or bang around the injectors...and can damage them!! and new o-ring seals for the injectors are a good idea!! there only like 3 or 4 bucks from advance auto(atleast here they are), and well worth replacing, even if the o-rings on the used ones seem fine(I had some, seemed fine, and then leaked bad first time I started the car!!).

and before tightening down the fuel rail, be sure the black plastic spacers are in between the head and the fuel rail, or there's a good chance you'll break stuff when you tighten the fuel rail down!! just thought I'd toss that in there!

The 3 bolts that hold the fuel rail on are 12mm. So a 12mm socket or wrench would work. You also will need a flat head screw driver to remove the fuel injector clips. If you are going to disconnect the fpr and the fuel line comming into the fuel rail, then you will need 10mm stuff as well. A pen magnet (idk the correct name) would be nice too for when you remove the injector clips (its hard to grab them off the injector, so its easier to just let them fall and pick up with the magnet afterwards). Once you get the clips off then you can remove the connections from the injector and try to move them out of the way.

You might be okay with out the new orings if they are still in good shape (even tho you are supposed to replace them), just lube them b4 you install into the fuel rail (i used some wd-40 LOL). Be sure to take caution when working on fuel related parts because usually there is pressure still in the system. Gas will come out when disconnecting fuel rail parts.

You also might have to disconnect the fuel line from the rail (the one that comes off the fuel filter) and maybe the fuel pressure regulator side as well. I did mine with both sides still on, but its just a tighter squeeze because you won't be able to move the fuel rail around too much because its connected by fuel line on both sides.

I set the injectors in the lower seals that go into the head (make sure they are in right before you bolt down the fuel rail or you could damage the seal and you will leak air/fuel) and then carefully slide the fuel rail onto the injectors (this is how I do it) :D

Then slide the injector clips onto the plug, then plug the connector into the injector until it clicks. *4

Then just bolt everything back down and when you start your car check for leaks. :thumb:
