I got a '93 Talon TSI. The kid told me when I bought it "I think the engine might be the older one". Well, the timing marks show as a 6bolt. So does the old pan. But the head doesn't, the reason I think this:

I ordered 6 bolt manifold studs. I started to put mine in last night, the first two went, but the others wouldn't go but a few threads, I didn't want to force them for fear the might be for a diff head. I ordered ones for a 6bolt, because the bottom end seems to be. But now I don't know.

Nevermind,
late 1g's with the 7bolt, had 9 studs on the exhaust manifold side of the head, two were larger.
6bolt has 9 studs all the same

I indeed have a 6bolt motor, cause they were definitely all the same
