Hello i have a 1998 mitsubishi eclipse rs first of all i got the car and it had a vary bad idling problem and a dieing prob. I have fixed the idling prob by replaceing the throttle body mounting gasket and replaced the fuel pump, spark plugs and computer. If i replaced it one from the same year but the # from the bottom on the computer was different would that make a difference? Even tho it was from the same make and model ? Anyways so my prob right now is when im backing up from my parking spot im putting slight pressure on the gas pedal to go i go than just before i come to a stop it dies but starts right back up and i have noticed no lights on the dash but the oil light and battery light anyone have any idea whats going on? Ps it dont lie all the time maybe twice or so a week

Sounds like a bad alternator. What's your voltage at the battery with the car running? If it's 12.x volts that isn't enough. :toobad: You need to see at around 13.5-14.8 volts at the battery with the engine on. Anything less than that and you have a problem with either the alternator, or possibly with the wiring somewhere. Most likely it's an alternator though if you have 12.x volts.

Check the voltage if that shows up fine then check the wires and connections on your alternator and battery if the voltage is to low take the alternator off and look for a shop close to you that rebuilds them, it shouldn't cost more then $50
