I live in Tampa (used to live in OHIO). Today it was pretty damn humid and Ive never drove my car in any humidity. Last night it was running like a raped ape. today in the hottest time of the day my boost was only hitting 15psi at redline. Its just building really slow, I thought my wastegate was stuck open or something. Wastegate is fine, no oil in LICP, no oil in turbo, no boost leaks, shaft play is normal. I have no clue what the deal is, like I said it ran strong the last time I drove it, its not like its been an on going thing. HELP please, new to turbo cars in humid weather.

Weather can make a very noticable difference for sure.

Thanks man, I see youre from Cali, Im sure it gets a little more humid here in FL, so thanks for reassuring me that my car isnt messed up, I also only have the SMIC so Im sure it was heat soaked as well.

Humidity and heat, both. When the air is cold and dry, your car will definitely feel faster than ever. The hotter the air is, the less dense it is. And when the humidity is high, more air is being displaced by water molecules. So heat and humidity together are a double-whammy.

Heat sucks power if you did not already know...

Yeah. I did. My topic was HUMIDITY not heat. I moved to Florida from Ohio and didnt think it could make that noticeable of a difference like it has. My car builds boost waaaay slower.

True but cold air=FTW!!!

Yeah, youre right. I just checked out my ride and I think my wastegate isnt closing all the way everytime. Id check the classifieds out here for an actuator but the only time I bought on here I got ripped off.

Just talked to about 4 guys locally here in Tampa, they avoid driving at all during the mid day heat and/or avoid boost.

"Humid air is less dense than dry air because a molecule of water weighs less than molecules of nitrogen and oxygen. Isaac Newton discovered this phenomenon and wrote about it in his book Opticks" - Wikipedia.

To answer you question, yes humidity kills performance. I prefer to drive my car at night instead of driving it on a hot and humid afternoon. Welcome to Florida!

I know that feeling I moved from Ft myers to Iowa. now Im going to be heading to Bama in a couple of months.

Found out my problem. For some reason that day it was humid my bushing on the wastegate flapper arm backed out of the housing about a half inch. This cause the flapper door to only cover about half the hole. I didnt think humidity could slow my car down as much as this!
