I really want to get rid of my power windows to save some weight was wondering if any of the 2g's came with manual windows. I would like them before I decide to do all the work to rewire my power windows.

I converted mine to manual windows and trust me.... you really dont save that much weight

The window motor which weighs about 2-3 lbs is all you lose

Ask yourself if sourcing the door panels, window tracks and lever for 6lbs is worth it

Thanks all. I thought so but GOOGLE wasnt telling me a whole hell of a lot. I just hope all of that bolts into a sebring. but every lb is woth it as far as I'm concerend. Also I dont want to wire all the crap up if I dont have to.

Avenger, sebring, talon, and eclipse all the same door panels.Almost identical interiors minus the sebrings came with a fake wood grain for the center console and what not..Ohh the avenger center console is longer than the dsm console..It has a longer armrest;)

Dsm the amp is under the seat, avenger, sebring its under the rear speaker panel in the trunk.

The backseat is also a little different via the trunked sebring, avenger and the hatch dsm.

Not to hijack the thread but I was told that they did make some 2g awd dsms with base model options. No sunroof, power windows, ABS, power antenna, rear wiper, clotch seats, or upgraded sound system. Has anyone heard of this or is this an old wise tale? If its true I think it would be cool cause it would be more of a bare bones car to mod right off the bat. The model I am current driving only has the power antenna, power windows, cruise, and leather seats but I think they were cloth. It looks like someone re-skinned them.

That would be extremely rare. I doubt dealers ordered bare bones AWD cars. Where would the selling point be for a brand new highest level model ? Your right though, it would be cool, like finding an RS Evo 8 "jungle version";)

OP, imsure you can find plenty of RS eclipse in a junkyard to do the swap, its up to you if the minimal weight saving is worth it though.

I belive you could order it with options of your choice. A mechanic at my local chevy dealer has a 93 talon tsi awd with no power options.

I'm subscribing to update this thread tonight. I've got the dealership brochures from a '95 Eclipse, '97 Eclipse, and '98 Talon that show the options that could be changed. I'll look into what you could/couldn't remove from the 2g AWD platforms...

I know off the top that you could get a GSX without a sunroof or leather seats but the ABS and power windows/locks were standard. Worth a look though!

That is pretty bad ass. So it could be done in a 1g.

Subbed. Mine is a 96 eclipse awd w/lsd, all stock minus 1g valve, and air filter. It was never an ABS car. It doesnt even have the sheet metal cut out from where ABS would be and it stops better then my other ABS dsms. It does have power locks. Hard top. I highly doubt it was factory leather. The seats are manual and there is an aftermaket name stamped in the leather on the back of the seats but they are dsm seats.

This info is interesting, I didnt realize ABS was standard.

I pulled out my collection of 2g DSM brochures...

The only thing that changes between the Talon's options were the power doors/windows. The TSi AWD came standard with the but the ESi and TSi had them optional as part of a package.

You could in 92 for sure.Mine is a gsx, no abs, cloth interior, power windows locks,Sunroof(non powered).

I would like to know also.So its good you have the brochers laying around.

I love the fact you have those brochures.

So basically the most bare bones 2g awd to be had still came with leather P.W. A/C P.L. and rear wiper from what I can tell. Hmm so if you wanted a bare bones 2g awd it pretty much had to be ordered that way. Now I have seen 2 awds with factory cloth interior. It is possible that someone switched the seats but hightly unlikely being the cars were never modded and owned but someone older. I would bet those were ordered that way.

Thats badass that the 1gs came as basically a bare bones rally car if you wanted it that, and as a production model might I add. Thanks for the info guys. It was one of those things I always had in the back of my mind but never asked.

it doesn't seem worth it unless you have like an all motor drag or a car you will be road racing.

It's not only about the weight, Sometimes there is real beauty in simplicity, Less is more.
