did i just get screwed on a clutch part?

i just bought a new clutch kit (presure plate, tob, disk) and finaly got it today. but i cant think of any reason why the presure plate should have heat rainbows on the fingers. it also has rust at the tips or the fingers. this is my first time messing with clutch stuff so i was wondering if there is any reason for the heat rainbows

where did you get this "new" clutch kit? ebay? if not contact who ever and question them about it and a refund. theres not a reason in hell something new should have rust on it.

The "rainbows" are from the heat-treating process. Hit the surface rust with a brass brush.

I'd still be upset though getting a rusty clutch. It shouldn't hurt anything though, just hit it with a wire brush like defiant said.

I never herd of ACT Refirbishing there stuff. so essentualy EVERY PP is Refirbished?? Then how come There isnt a Core Return???? Refirbishing means getting there old stuff and Rebuilding it. who Returns there ACT PP???

pressure plates don't get refurbished though ..

if u pay for new you should get new. refurbished stuff is worth quite a bit less than new manufactured... and usually and refurbs will be in a plain box or marked FACTORY REFURBISHED with a big neon color sticker. maybe thats y some peoples act's fell apart on them cuz they were used? :laugh: :thumbdown

Um...I buy a lot of my stuff direct from ACT and at no time did they ever offer refurbished pressure plate/clutch kits. My 2600 was purchased new as was my 2900. Dunno what other people are talkinga about.

it doesnt say anywhere on the box that it is referbished. it just seems weird that they would sell a referbished performance clutch. they said taht they were going to 2 day airmail me my clutch line and i havent gotten it yet.

It's not. It's new. Whoever emailed you and said it was "refurbished" is an idiot.

If you have service issues with your supplier, call them on the electronic telephone and give them what-for.
