calgary,
Well contrary to all opinions I ported and polished my t25. I also ported the o2 houding and exhaust mani. MAN what a difference. It spools a little quicker but not too much. It probably hits 15psi by 3500 now. Once it starts to spool it spools very very fast. Also I had originally set my boost to 15psi before the port and polish then when I took it out for the first run after the boost went over 20 and i let off quick.. I am not sure how high it would have went. So I turned the MBC way down and now it at a resonable spot. 15psi. It still does not start spooliing as quick as I thought it would but I still have to get the timming done when I get my CAS. It stil is a dog off the start but part of that is that it is an auto. But I am sure the timming is retarded. But whatever the porting job has done wonders I would recomend it. I am sure that i could boost up higher now even i will try 17 psi but don;t want to kill the turbo..

I am also planning on getting at 14b but I thought I would try this for something to do...

TTY

I will have to take a serious look tommorow when it does hit that boost. i only took it out once and didin;t look to hard at the tack but I am sure that it was over 3000 when it hit full boost.

If that is bad what are some possible reasons. Before the port and poish I did a leak test and there was a small one at the BOV but nothing major.. I will retest tommorow. But what else could it be????

Yeah its bad, here are some reasons
bad compression
exhaust leak before turbo
boost leak
Go to vfaq.com and make a boost leak tester
Good luck

I checked for those when I fired it up ... Nothing.. Maybe the wastegate???

Man I thought it was doing good but this is my first turbo car.. Any other suggestions?

COuld be bad compression cause it is a dog off the line but I suspect that is a timming issue? i will check things out tommorow a little more. I have made a leak tester before and tested it before the port job... TTY

1. If your previous leak test didn't result in holding 20psi for a reasonable period of time, repeat pressure test until the condition is met.

2. How did you check for exhaust leak?

3. Remove the actuator arm and make sure the flapper is tightly closed when the arm is re-attached.

Well One thing about the leak test is that I heard what I thought was blow by on the rings but did not know if it is normal. When I did the leak test I heard bubles in the oil and and pressure came out of the pcv tube. I would not hold pressure for very long but when I did it I thought it was normal but wasn't sure... ??? Bad rings????? I hope not.. Let me know what you guys think.. TTY

Ps I did check the flapper on the wastegate and had to adjust a little already to get it tighter..

Checked for exhaut leaks by listening.. Is that not good enough? There sohould be a ticking hissing sound. Didn't hear any of that.. TTY

Welcome to the club, read through that thread and post back questions.

The actuator on the T25 is not adjustable.

You can do what inspection stations do: Have a friend block off the tail pipe with a piece of cartboard when the car is at idle while you listen/feel for leaks, focus in areas before the O2 housing but make sure your friend knows when to let it go. You can also make another leak tester that will fit your tail pipe and do a reversed leak test.

Yes I know there is no adjustment on the actuator. It was not really loose at all so I bent the mount just a hair to tighten it up. No enough to mis align or anything.

assuming no exhaust leaks next step compression test? Thanx for the info so far.. TTY

I would rather have you preload the actuator by adding some washers to the mounting bracket instead of benting it, making sure the flapper is completely shut is very important.

Regardless the result of your exhaust leak test, you have already determine you have boost leaks into the crankcase, hence the bubbling sound. The next step will be to follow the thread I posted above (I thought I posted the link before but I will fix it after this post) in order to pin point where the leak is.

Thanx..

Turn out this morning on my way to work I stomped on from a stand still and it hit 15psi at 4000. That really does suck. But it is better with tht eport job. Just have to find the leak.. I will keep you posted. I will be finding it tonight.. TTY

What gear are you checking your boost response in? I know my 2nd gear is about 800rpm slower which is why *I believe* when your trying to find your spool time, you use 3rd gear?

First off I have an auto.. And I did it from a stand still in first gear. It is still about th same in aother gears like if I am down ini second and mat it from about 2000 rpms it still will get full boost about 4000.. I definately have a boost leak so I will find that tonight and try to fix it.. Then we will see. TTY

Good luck with the leak test and fill out your profile which will make helping you much easier.
