3 days ago, compression in cylnder 1 was 115
today dry, it was 130, tested again moments later, it was 120, then 115 again.
put in oil, it was 150, then 130, then put oil in again, it was 125, and 140.

why are the numbers fluctuating so much?

im trying to find out if its a headgasket warped head, or rings, cause my problems in this 4moth old rebuilt 6bolt.

it burns no oil, unless it sits for over 4 days.

radiator hose gets pressurized fast. and after a drive, and you shut off the car, it shoves the coolant out the over flow tube.

lowend power feels great.
coolant smells like fumes,
no coolant burning white smoke atall?

its crazy.
the owner that had it rebuilt, swears it was never overboosted, it was never over reved, never overheated, never nothing. he said he never even raced, or did any hard pulls.

it was 98redgs, the mod, so i think i can believe him on that?

could the head be torqued down wrong. too loose or osmeting, or a bad headgasket, or anything.

i want to pull the head, and check it out, test it for cracks and warps. but if it needs a bottom end too, i wont bother.

so any help would be great, sorry it was so long.

Compression tests do little more than tell you there is a problem. Leakdown tests will tell you what the problem is.

As for your fluctuating Com#s.. are you doing the tests with the car at operating temp? Is your tester's o-ring worn / not completely sealing?

tests were done evertime just after a drive home from work. same amount of driving each time, same miles, same temp.

i looked at the tester orings, and it appears fine.

Ensure that with each test you turn the motor over the same amount of times. I count 7 times usually and the results are always on the dot.

I did 8 turns. every time.

if the headgasket wasnot sealed properly, could the results be flaky like mine?
