Has anybody ran one of these? I was thinking about using this and water/alcohol injection with my evo 16g, until I can afford a fmic.

It's been proven that a well-put-together water injection kit can do just as well as a huge fmic. the only problem with a stock smic, EVO 16G, water injection combo would be the FLOW of the stock smic. But w/ a dejon tool upgrade will flow way more. So, yea it should be a good choice for you.

If you want to max out your EVO 16G just get a bigger water injection nozzle or another smaller one. they're like 10-20 bones and you won't have to install a front mount. Same results, from personal experience.

My advice is to see how far you can go without getting a FMIC. Keep refering to your compressor map and dyno numbers. I mean if you get 0 knock at 22 psi and are putting 350hp to the wheels then there will be no significant advantage to the fmic right? What are your goals with that turbo?

P.S. do you have a homemade water/alky kit or what? what's you nozzle flow rate? If you're on your stock MAF, you'll definately overrun that long before you'll get close to the limit of your turbo. Guys get maf overrun with 14Bs. I did with my small 16G at 15 lbs of boost :notgood: .

I have not put together the w/i system yet, but I have been shopping around to find the parts I want to use in it. My goal isn't too great for now, I just want to run around 18psi on the street, which may be possible with the smic alone, but I still want to run the w/i for a little added protection against detonation. As soon as I do get a fmic, these parts will probably go on my 89 Colt turbo ;) I will probably go with a maft to eliminate the problems with the stock mas, plus I plan to get some 650's.

I haven't done any fuel mods yet, but will be doing 255lph pump, aeromotive afpr, fic 650cc injectors and a maft & 3" maf. Hopefully I will have an eprom ecu by then with a chip for the 650's. I was wanting to run the modded smic to get better airflow, and the w/i to ward off any knock and cool down the charge air. I know that I could probably pull off a fmic between the cost of the modification to the smic and w/i sysyem, but these parts may find themselves on the colt after I get a fmic. Then again, I may keep the w/i system with the fmic in the future, who knows, just some ideas I have been throwing around.

Are you keeping the evo III turbo? If you are, you don't need a 255 and AFPR. A 190 pump will work fine for a evo III 16g turbo.

I don't see a point in doing things twice, as in once on a SMIC and then again on a FMIC. Just save up for a FMIC and get it over with. Just my .02

I agree. if you're going to get a fmic then get it over with... then add water injection to that :thumb: !

Am i to understand that you are planning on running the modified smic on the colt w/ the water injection? if that's the case then it would not be a waste. how far do you want to go with the colt. water injection gives you alot more potential. so if you want to go all out with the colt, i think you're not wasting your time/money with the smic if you're going to add the wi to it.
