Noticed a few posts on here about running Defi gauges without D-link, but nothing pertaining to what I need to know.

I have a boost gauge (two actually, but one is a monstrous 3" bar style, me no likey) that was given to me, and I want to hook it up. I think I need d-link, but my God, I can't justify shelling out $150 for a fancy control unit to work one gauge. I don't need colors changing, I don't need playback, or warnings, just an accurate boost gauge. My autometer is kinda crappy nowadays, and I don't like the fact the copper line I have ran to it is starting to kink. I tried a plastic one before, and it too developed a hole from where I have the gauge ran. The defi gauge I have just has wires, so it's alot more accurate.

The wiring harness has four colorsOMGrange, yellow, black, and white. It has three plugs on the back: two four prong plugs on the bottom, that both take the same style harness with the same colors (orange, yellow, etc), and one three prong one where the actual air sensor snaps into.

Help please? if not, idk. I may trade for a non-link Defi boost gauge. Why defi? Because so far they are the best from what I've seen, and rare, since they're no longer being produced. I don't know why, considering they are awesome gauges, but nonetheless, it's all I want in my car. Thanks

Defi gauges don't all use a controller some are stand alone. Honestly if you want to skip the control unit I would suggest selling that gauge and going with a standalone style gauge from them or look at prosport gauges as they are defi clones without the controller for 1/2 to 1/3 the cost.

I dont think its going to work. I have the V1 defi-link system and the gauges will only read after going through the controller. All the sensors like the defi turbo sensor, egt probe, water temp, ect all have an input on the controller. They then run out one output to control up to seven gauges. Its a multiple interface system, meaning each gauge and the control unit have seperate microcomputer units.

I may be interested in buying it from you if you want to sell it. My boost gauge only reads to 30 psi, and I plan on being upwards of 40.
