ok so iam not new to dsms, however i am new to tuning the engine beyond stock perameters. should i get a safc for my car or a data logger? which is better? where do i get a data logger even? any help you guys could give would be great. i am running a 16g, walbro 190plh fuel pump 450cc injector (soon to be 550s).

An S-AFC is used for tuning - controlling your air to fuel ratio.

A logger is used for viewing certain values that help you tune or prevent damage to your engine.

They are two different things and should be used with each other (although the logger can be used alone since it's not used to change anything).

Do a search and you'll find A LOT of info on both of them, as well as logger suggestions. There are loggers that are free and there are ones you can pay a lot for.

A logger and a SAFC are to totally different things. A logger is used for logging/monitoring what your car is doing for example your rpms, knock,TPS and other things. The logger is needed to help you with your tune so you can see how your car is reacting to more/less fuel. You can get a whole logger setup on ebay for less than $50.

Where an SAFC is used for tuning your fuel curve and air fuel ratio. How you tune with this will be determind on what your logs look like from your datalogger. A SAFC,chip, dsmlink, aem are a must once you start upgrading your fuel. The SAFC will be need once you upgrade your injectors.

Like said do a search there is alot alot of information on here about those two things.

You can pick up a used m100 or m515 cheap on ebay. Then you just need the MMCD software, and your ready to log. You could also use a laptop to run PalmOS and all you would need is the data cable to connect to the diagnostic port. Hope it helps
