Yes plug it I'm not 100% sure which it is but it's a gallery of some sort.

Do I need to plug it? Is there oil or coolant behind it?

i believe that pic is a generic pic from the internet.

have you checked your own cylinder head by poking inside the hole?

it doesn't seem to be a through hole to the other side of the head.

it might be bending towards the cylinder head and block mating surfaces, and may be a coolant port.

not sure though as my cylinder head's at another place.

but i remember that only oil ports were the ones plugged.

I got my head back from the machine shop and wasn't sure if i neded to plug it. i put the head on the car and noticed the plug. i got the timing cover on already. need to take it apart i guess

I'm not sure anything actually goes in that hole. All the oil galleries were drilled/plugged from the opposing side or through the top.

Turns out it does not need to be plugged. I filled the car up with fluids and cranked it over. Nothing came out so it looks like it's ok without a plug.
