Long story short. During my first tuning runs the actuator broke off it's bracket and is smoking like crazy now. They refuse to do anything about it. They say I've had it too long and there's no warranty. It broke off it's damned bracket, I don't think you should need a warranty when that happens when the turbo has 0 hours on it

cxracing 16g -350dollars
actuator - 100dollars
time spend dealing with it - ????
still having a cheap chinese turbo that will more than likley blow up after a couple thousand miles

mhi E316g -550ish

this is why nobody should buy ebay or chinese shit, seriously.

The turbo that came on my 90 awd was one of the chinese ones, and what a joke that was, no matter what you did it made 18psi and boost creeped to 20+, replaced it with a mhi unit and all that went away.

well i was keeping in mind that (like me) i dont have an extra 550 bucks laying around and assuming he doesn't have his stock turbo if it is even working! Who knows why he got a new one.. but if you do have the old one and you don't trust the CXracing the swap it back and save up!!

and there is many ways to fix the boost creep.. there as been many forums ive came across where people but a turbo off ebay and had trouble with the creep and ported up the wastegate hole and BAM problem nearly depleted!!

if also read many forums where some ride those ebay turbos out for years!! some even running 20psi constantly! but its all your own opinion and madcap do what you think is right to get it working again!

I to have heard of peopel having them for quite a while.

but ive never seen it, just seen them seize, blow oil, early wear ect ect ect..

as far as porting goes I hade my wg ported and a 34mm flapper in it, no dice, even the ajustable rod on the wg actuator didnt make a difference.

never the less i would reaccoment a real mhi turbo, you can find small 16gs in good shape fora couple hundred, same thing with E316g, i would stay away from big16g's though. Just IMO

well i have a E3B16G and have had no problems at all, have put maybe 3-4k on it. I am actually getting ride of it when i get back from Iraq because i got hooked up with a newer hx35 for free from a friend that was swapped out because the mechanic thought it was bad and it was still good. so i will be selling that as soon as i get back along with my maft as i am buying ecmlink when i get back aswell.

Short story...you get what you pay for.

touché, point taken. Lesson learned.

They stopped answering my emails or returning calls. I've even suggested getting it rebuilt but I'm simply ignored. If you would like to express your distane for this type of customer service feel free to email Lin, [email protected] or (626) 575-3288. Yeah, I went the cheap route but being blamed for burning up a turbo because their actuator failed is rediculious. :dsm:

:notgood:

Damn sorry to hear about that. I know a guy that works there. They are pretty nice usually and hooked me up with a free radiator and fans to use pics of my car for an ad. I have never had an issue with the radiator but I would never trust a turbo from any company that doesn't have a big name in the scene. Good luck with your situation.

Why's that? Does the nearly-identical wheel spec to an Evo III 16G scare you away?

How big of a name?

I personally have not seen a PTE turbo of any size that was running over 25psi last more than a thousand miles on any DSM, and a close buddy of mine put 167 miles on a brand new Turbonetics 60-1 before it took a dump with shaft play bad enough to let the wheels hit the housings.

I trust only two turbo companies- Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Holset. Borg Warner seems to have a good thing going too, however I don't have any personal experiences with their products just yet.
